Hello Jemetta Frobeter Burton! Nice to hear from another relative!! Herman Heinrich Frohbeiter was born 9 Nov 1833 in Hanover Germany. Married Marie Clare Ilsabein Jockheck on 1 Jan 1867 in Westfalen, Germany. Herman Heinrich and Marie Clare Ilsabein had 6 children. Sailed to America on the Atlanta from Bremen to Baltimore arriving 4 September 1869. The Frohbeiter name changed due to marriage custom in Germany. I would be more than happy to share all information I have but would be too much for this message board. Please contact via e-mail at kateskritters@aol.com or you can contact my aunt Mary at Schase62@ymail.com and we can exchange more information.

Henry Frobeter

Not sure if anyone will see this since it seems there aren't any others searching this side but here goes...Henry Frobeter in the 1900 census shows B: Oct 1868. Found ship Atlanta from Bremen Germany to Baltimore Maryland containing Heinrich age 56, Hermann age 34, Maria age 52, Maria age 36, maria age 3 and Hermann age 10 months. Pretty sure this is our Frobeter/Frohbeiter. 1870 census in Vanderburgh Indiana shows Herman, Clara, Henry and Mary. Can anyone tell me how to get records from Germany???? Kate

I have just written down all Frohbieters in the St. Stephen's Old cemetery. I didn't see the name Elzena but she could have married someone else if she died after your Henry. The names I found are:

Frohbieter, ?? 1865-1870
Frohbieter, Gerhard H. 1865-1865
Frohbieter, Mary 1880-1954
Frohbieter, Gottlieb 1874-1949
Frohbieter, Daniel W. 1885-1933
Frohbieter, John Henry 12 Aug 1836-16 Jan 1916
Frohbieter, Maria A. 3 July 1848-18 Feb 1920
Frohbieter, G. Henry 12 Dec 1868-2 Apr 1902

There are a few others in the new cemetery. The last one is the Henry that married Elizabeth Buck.

I have a Gerhard Heinrich Frohbieter in my husband's line. He was called Henry but several of them used the name Henry.

Our Henry married Elizabeth Buck and he was born in 1869. I have noticed that most of them have records in Vanderburgh county in Indiana. They lived in Scott Township which is right on the border of Vanderburgh County. If you have no luck there try Gibson County. Some of them are buried at St. Stephen's Church in Warrenton, Indiana. I took some pics today but I can't figure out who's who until I get them back.

Kate,
Yes!! We are related. No I didn't get to make the reunion. My invitation from Virginia came the day before I'd already had plans for the weekend. Wish I could of made it! I last saw Virginia at Inez's funeral. She had told me then that she was also working on the family tree. Under the circumstances we really didn't get to talk much about it. Please email me back! tlhorn@psci.net
