I am looking for relatives, descendants, & researching the surname Fronk from Czech Republic. My 3 gr grandmother was Ludmilla Magdalena Fronk b. 1777 Unetice, C.R., who married Vaclav Schneberg, b. 1777 probably Unetice. Their grandson Petr Tollar, b. 1845 Vesela, C.R., emigrated to Chicago with his wife & 4 kids. I would like to connect with extended relatives (descendants of siblings) of the Fronk Schneberg family, in U.S. or C.r. & am willing to share info.
A hearty Hello to all who are researching the William H. Fronk family tree! My name is Kelvin May, and my Grandfather was married to Beatrice Fronk, William H. Fronk's daughter. My grandad's name was Robert Langley May; my dad was Norman Denis May. They were born and raised in Pike Co., Kentucky. I live in Baton Rouge, LA. Norman was stationed here during WWII and never returned to live in his home state of Kentucky. After Beatrice died, Robert moved to Baton Rouge to live with his son. Later, my mom met Norman, they married, and had two sons.....My brother, Denis, in 1957 and myself, in 1959. Thanks to Marcia and others posting info in this thread, I have finally begun to gather information on my grandmother Beatrice and the Fronks. I have only a few pictures of Beatrice, William H., William R., and Allie Fronk, but I would be very happy to share any and all with others seeking information on my paternal in-laws. Thanks, Kelvin

I have a question to all who have been reasearching the Fronks in Kentucky and Virginia. I'd like to know who your earliest Fronk family member was and how early they were in your state, and where they came from. I'm looking for a connection to New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland Fronks. If you have any connections and would like to share, Great!

Kathryn, Thank you for replying, I am trying to follow a William H. Fronk, who was born in Cambria Co. PA on Dec. 30, 1857. The last time he was on the Cambria census was 1870, age 12, so I guess he's too young to match up with your William.
I was researching in Western PA and found in two separate obits the following; (in May of 1912) ...W.H. Fronk of Breading, W. Va.... (in May 1913) ..William Fronk of Kentucky. These were obits of his Mother and Father. I'll keep looking!
That is early. 1809 is the year for the earliest source I have for my line, a marriage record in Harrisburg Dauphin County PA. There is another Fronk Family that moves from eastern PA to Beaver County PA, and some of them move to Ohio, but I'm not sure how early they did that and I find no Samuel mentioned. I know that there may be two other Fronk families that went from PA to Ohio, but at this point, it's only other folks like you working their way back to PA through records. I will keep looking at what I have and please let me know if you find Samuel's parents in PA.

Marcia Fronk

Ah ha! A timeframe for George and Rebecca. That is exactly the piece I needed. You are right. There is no connection despite the common naming pattern. Once I make it back to the PA Fronk/Frank/Franck ancestors, we may connect. For now, however, I need to locate the parents of Samuel Fronk. According to the census records, Samuel was born 1807-1810 in Ohio, while his father was born in PA. Thanks again.

According to the census records, Samuel was born 1807-1810 in Ohio, while his father was born in PA. Thanks again.

Perhaps I buried the main point in too much detail. My gr gr grandparents, George (1791-1866)and Rebecca MettsFronk(1796-1870) had 9 children. They and their descendents did not migrate to KY that I am aware of. Geo and Rebecca moved to Ohio in the 1850's, first to Unity Twp, Columbiana County, then later to Patmos in Mahoning County. They are buried in Hope Cemetery, Salem Ohio in the same site as their 2nd son, George W. Fronk (1829-1905). The oldest son, Solomon (1816-1896) and family remained in Beaver County. A 3rd son, John W. Fronk(1833-1901) is buried in Columbiana Co - E. Palestine. Solomon and John might have had offspring that carried on their lines, but I did not find it after modest searching. 1791 Georges 6 daughters all married and at least 4 moved to Columbiana Co. One reamined in Beaver Co. I have names and dates of all 6.

The children of 1829 Geo W Fronk are a daughter who died at 4, another daughter who had no children, son, Seth (1864-1911) who had 2 daughters, that had no chidren; and a second son, John Franklin (1870-1956), my grandfather. John F is buried in Salem, along with his only son, George R. (1904-1999). 1904 George had 2 boys, Robert, who lives in Boston, and me, William, of Michigan and Tennessee. A daughter lives in Cleveland. I have a son who lives at the other end of TN, and he has 2 sons.

Forgive the detail, but I hope it is helpful to you, and possibly you might see some tie to you ancestors. I am sure you know there are lots of Frank/Fronk names in PA in the early 19th century, and they liked the name George and Jacob especially. Maybe there might be a tie to earlier generations. Let me know if I can elaborate on any of above. Good luck in your searches.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the extensive response. I really appreciate your taking the time to give me such a well thought out reply. I questioned the connection to your Pennsylvania line because of Marcia Fronk's 2002 quote from "History of Beaver County".

The specific portion that stimulated my interest was: "Jacob Fronk was born in Eastern Pennsylvania and afterward came to Beaver County, where he died. His son, George, came with him to this county, and was a farmer in Raccoon township. He finally moved to Ohio where he died at the age of seventy-five years. His wife was Rebecca, daughter of Casper Metts, and died in Ohio, aged over seventy years."

As I interpret the paragraph, it indicates that at some point in time, George and Rebecca lived and died in Ohio. Any idea of who they were or how they fit in?

Gayle

I have found Henry Fronk, age 76, (my GGGGgrandfather living with my GGGgrandparents (Charles Hugh Knox and Harriet Fronk Knox) in Bureau County, Illinois in the 1860 Federal Census. Harriet was Henry Fronk's daughter. I don't know if Henry Fronk died in Illinois but Charles and Harriet moved to Allen County, Kansas where they lived next door to my great-grandparents, Samuel Austin Knox and Laura Bell Miller Knox. They were still there in 1880 except that Samuel died in 1879 (he fell off a wagon). Laura Bell Miller Knox died of pneumonia in about 1873, leaving my grandmother, Lula Myrtle Knox an orphan at age six.

I am very interested in the Buchanan family tree if you have it, at least going back to the Revolutionary War period.

Marcia Fronk: From 2004 posting recall you are interested in Jacob Fronk, mentioned in 1888 History of Beaver County. I have found a little more since I last made a posting. Still looking for county of birth in Eastern PA, but I know from census data that he was born 1760-65, wife born 1766-1770. They both died in the 1840's, buried in Beaver County. They had at least 4 children, George b 1791, Jacob Jr and 2 unnamed: a girl born 1785-1795, a boy born 1795-1800. Jacob Sr was in 1810 , 1830 Census, St Clair Twp, Allegheny PA. (1820 is not as clear). Census also reveals that Jacob was not a Revolutionary War pensioner. Does this fit any ofyour Jacob Fronk/Frank/Frunk in any Eastern PA counties?

Gayle,

I sure see a lot of identical names and even birthdates. But it looks like a different branch of the Fronk/Frank family. Our George Fronk was born April 29 1791 in Eastern PA. His father, Jacob, was born 1760-65 in Eastern PA. Jacob's father, name unknown, was born in Germany. I have traced Jacob from his death in 1840's in Raccoon Twp, Beaver County PA, lived in St Clair Twp, Allegheny CO PA in 1810, 20, 30 censuses. Very likely was in Dauphin County PA in 1800. Jacob had 4 children, in addition to 1791 George, there was 1802 Jacob Jr, and an unknown daughter born ~1794, #2 son born 1795-1800. 1802 Jacob Jr had 5 children, died in Beaver Co in 1872. Many of his offspring settled around Beaver Co, and there are many descendents still in the county.

Our 1791 George had 9 children, Solomon b1816 (died in Beaver Co), George W. b 1829, John W b 1833, and 6 daughters. Daughters all married and remained in Western PA or Columbiana Co Ohio. 1791 George and 1829 George W moved to Columbiana County OH in the 1850's. John W also moved to Columbiana Co, buried in E. Palestine. George and George W are buried in Salem OH. Geo W had 2 boys, Seth and John, both buried in Salem OH. John 1870-1956, begat my father George 1904-1999, also buried in Salem.

I have a copy of a Mar 31, 1796 will of a Palson Fronk of Washington Co PA, who refers to wife Mary, sons, George, John, Jacob, Andrew, Henry, Patrick, Daniel and Peter. Daughters Catherine, Elizabeth, Mary Eve and Lucy.

I have checked out several Fronk/Frank in Beaver County, including a George and a Rheinhold - both born in Germany (so not directly in my lineage). They appear to be part of a split off from the Harmony Society and settled in Phillipsburg (Monaca) PA.

Let me know if you can see any connections. I will share whatever I have. Good luck

Bill Fronk

Re: Fronk family in Oregon

Charles K. Fronk was probably the "C. K. Fronk" mentioned in my ancestor's Linn County biography. He was a son of Mary E. Brown and John M. Fronk. He was one of nine children born to this couple, only four of whom lived to maturity -- C. K. "agent of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company at Albany," Margaret "wife of Alan J. Goodman, of Independence, Ore.", Henry E., of Albany; and Edwin A., who is in the employ of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company.

Charles' mother Mary married my ancestor, William F. Hendricson, in 1893 after her first husband died. They were up in years at the time of their marriage so of course had no children.

Query for Henry Fronk/Sarah Buchanan descendants

Hello to all. I've seen the date of 1809 given as the marriage date for Henry Fronk and Sarah Buchanan. I'd like to ask if anyone found any record of this marriage, where and in what congregation it took place? Also if anyone has found any more information on Henry Fronk dying back in Halifax Dauphin Co. PA and buried there?

Marcia Fronk

Hi! I am just starting my family tree. I know from "hear say" that my family came from Brackton Co Kentucky also. They homesteaded in Wyoming in the southern Teton mountains, south of present day Jackson. My family there was Hearley Fronk whom married Jenny Aitkin-Fronk on April 12, 1905. These were my great grandparents. His fahter was Vincent Taylor Fronk Sr. whom was married to Mary Eunice McCane Fronk. I know that I have more information on my family tracing it to New York. Will have to contact my Anut who has some family history recorded. If anyone else could help I would appericate it.

Would your gr gr grandfather George Fronk, b 1791, be the same George Fronk who was one of the first Fronks to settle in the Ohio/Kentucky area?

I am trying to trace 7 PA born Fronks who moved to Clermont Co. Ohio during the early 1800s. They were: John Fronk b 1789; Henry Fronk Sr. b 1790; George Fronk, b 1791; Peter Fronk b 1792; Elizabeth Fronk b 1796; Samuel Fronk b 1798, Solomon Fronk b 1800.

John, Henry, and Peter all bought land in Clermont Co., Ohio. Elizabeth married John Bolander there.
