Stephen Thomas Frye, age 57, of Edinboro,PA
passed away, Friday, May 8th at Presque Isle Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Erie, Pa., following a brief illness. He was born in Erie, Pa. on May 26, 1951, son of the late Donald Elmer and Anna Mary Keys Frye. He was a 1969 graduate of General McLane High School. Employed at Pennsylvania Electric Motor Service since 1993. His boss, Joseph Pugliese, and other employees always referred to Stephen when there was a problem or question about a job. His years of experience and hard work meant he was the one to ask. His boss was always waiting for that knock on his door when Stephen would ask if he was ready to go to lunch. Joe also said that if it hadn’t been for Steve’s help when opening up the shop, his business would’ve never got off the ground. As hobbies, Stephen loved spending time with his grandchildren, taking them on long walks in the woods and catching lightning bugs with them. He also enjoyed golfing, gardening, hiking and camping, often staying up late at night to play cards with his camping buddies. He also enjoyed his pets and had numerous dogs and cats throughout the years. Married May 12th, 1973 at the Lake City Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Lake City, Pa. Stephen was raised as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and in 1970 he dedicated his life to doing God’s will. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 10th, 1970. He was an active member of the Cambridge Springs, PA congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Very active in door-to-door preaching and teaching work as well as an active member of the Regional Building Committee, a committee organized by Jehovah’s Witnesses to help build Kingdom Halls. He worked in the electrical department there mainly installing lights and exit signs. He also enjoyed joining in preaching in seldom worked territories, where a special effort was made to reach those who lived in remote locations where Jehovah’s Witnesses do not often preach. Survived by wife of 36 years, Kathryn Frye; daughter, Joyce Frye, of Edinboro; son James (Connie) Frye of Moss Point, Miss.; grandsons Joshua, Jacob, and Micah Frye; brothers Michael (Bunny) Frye of Holbrook, Ariz., Timothy (Robin) Frye of Moore, Okla.; Donald (Helen) Frye of Somerset, Pa., and sister Barbara (Sigurd) Case of Frewsburg, N.Y.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nephews, great nieces, and other relatives and friends. A memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 10th at 6:00 p.m. at the Cambridge Springs Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 414 McLellan St, Cambridge Springs, Pa. with James Kingsley officiating. Memorials may be made to the Cambridge Springs Kingdom Hall, 414 McLellan St. Cambridge Springs, PA 16403. Send condolences at www.Burtonfuneralhome.com.
