I have e-mailed you before. We moved and I lost you. also my
e-mail has changed. My mother is Carrie Lucille Fuel Townsend.
She is the only living daughter of James Elmer Fuel. She will be 90 years old on June 22. I remember you telling me about Mandy. My mom did remember her well. I am still looking into the Fuel family line. You are right James E Fuel married Jackie Naomi Stringer. They had 9 children. Nora, Elma Lee, Mary, Carrie, Dorothy, Marie, Cecil and another set of twins that died in infancy. I do not know their names and neither does Mom. My mom and Uncle Cecil were twins. Mom and Cecil were born in Lake Village, AR and grew up there. If mom or I can help you anymore, please let me know. I would like to know more about my grandfather, James Elmer. I know he had some brothers, but I do not know how many. Thanks, Ann I hope I hear from you again soon.

James,
I am the daughter of your gf's sister. I remember uncle Cecil very well. My mother is Carrie Lucille. She and Cecil were twins. She is still living and is 87. Their father's name was James Elmer, not Edward. I am so glad to find another Fuel. I remember Carol and his sister and his mother, Rachel. I do not remember the sister's name. How old are you?? Where do you live?? Who are your parents?

I have been off of the internet for a while because we moved and things are just getting hooked up again.

Please write back soon.

Ann

Hi James,

Your grandfather, Carey Cecil Fuel, and my grandmother were first cousins. My grandmother is still living, she was 90 this last December. Your great-grandmother, Jackie Stringer Fuel, was a sister to my great-grandfather, James B. Stringer. It's nice to "meet" you. Please email me at:
deafboston @ gmail.com
(remove the spaces)

I'd love to hear more from you & I'd be happy to swap family information/stories. I have a picture of our great-grandmothers that you might like to have a copy of. I also have pictures of your grand-aunts & I believe one of your grandfather buried in dirt up to his neck (no idea why).

GP
Ann,

It is great to hear from you. Your grandmother and my great-grandfather were siblings. My great-grandfather was James Barton Stringer. My grandmother, Matilda Stringer Burrow, is also still living. She was 89 last week. Your mother may remember her...I think most of the family called her Till or Tillie when she was younger.

I'd love to tell you what I know about your grandmother's family. And whatever I don't know, I'll ask my grandmother if she remembers. Anything you could contribute to the family tree would also be just great. Please email me at deafboston@gmail.com

I can't wait to hear from you,

Gayla

PS - I don't know if you knew this, but Jackie's sister Mandy was married to your grandfather's father, Zachary Taylor Fuel.

My dad sent a message about someone looking for Fuels in Arkansas. My grandmother was Jackie Naomi Stringer Fuel and my grandfather was James Elmer Fuel. Their Children were Nora, Mary, Elma Lee (Emma Lee), Dorothy, Carrie, Cecil (twins) and Marie. They also had another set of twins before Carrie and Cecil but they died in infancy. I do not know their names.
That is all I know. My mother is Carrie. She is still living and is 85 years old. I do know my grandfather was married before my grandmother married him. I know nothing of his first wife. However, I did know Harvey and Violet. They were children of his first wife. I read a newspaper article that my grandfather did and he stated he had 17 children. He was born in 1878 and died in July of 1969 just a month before I was married. He was 92 years old. He died in Pine Bluff. My grandmother died a few years later. She was 88 when she died. mother's. If you are interested, I can give you names of the their grandchildren. I hope to hear from you. I have been trying to find information on my grandparents and because the Fuel name is rather uncommon, I have had difficulty finding information on of them. From what I know of my grandmother, she was born in Buzzards Roost Alabama. I know my grandfather had some brothers, but I know nothing of my grandmother's family. There are still some Fuels in Lake Village, AR where my mom was born.

I hope to hear from you. Ann Payne

The information that I have is limited - Taylor Fuel has been a mystery to me and I keep coming to a dead end. I hope we have a connection and that we both have enough information to solve the mystery of Taylor Fuel.

Taylor Fuel was born in Edinburg, Johnson County,Indiana January 17, 1849 and Emeline Smith was born about 1850 in Georgia. They were married January 20, 1866 in Jennings County Indiana. Around 1880 they moved to the Dickson Tennessee area/ Erin Tennessee area. In the 1900 Houston County Tennessee Census Emma is head of household with 8 of ten children living. I assumed that Taylor had died but later found that he is buried in Houston County Tennessee and died April 21, 1921. I have the eight children as Malinda Isrel Fuel, Josie Fuel, Mattie Fuel, Jim Fuel, John H Fuel, Pearly Fuel, Henly Fuel and Evel Lena Fuel (who was my great grandmother). Taylor Fuel married the second time to Amanday Stringer of Cherokee, Alabama in 1908 and I believe that they had a son named Charles. Please contact me at TVafeas@aol.com. Thanks, Judy

Yes, I am very interested in the pcitures of Emma and Taylor. I live in Florence, Alabama which is not far from Memphis. I have come to a dead end on the parents of Taylor and Emma. I do know that Emma was born in Georgia and was a Smith. I know that Taylor was born in Indiana. I would love to compare the information that we have. It has taken me a long time to get this far. My grandmother (Lena's daughter) is still alive but she knew very little about her grandparents since they were in Tennessee and she was born and grew up in Alabama. When I find new information, she is sometimes able to confirm it from memory of stories she heard when a child. Thanks and please e-mail me. TVafeas@aol.com

Hi Robert,
thanks a lot for your answer!
Since I'm white or at least I don't see any traces of black blood in it, I suppose I'm not the one with African Ancestry.
However, it is interesting to know how spread is a surname like this in Europe then, there is where my most ancestry come from.
You know, in Southamerica it is quite normal to find people with european ancestry, however, the most are spanish or portuguese due to the colony times from 1942.
The english ancestry aint that well spread there then there weren't much english over there.

My family tree seems to be very colored and among italian, spanish, indian and english or whatever ancestry I have I'm really pleased to know at last something more about my origins.

Thanks a lot and wish you have a nice time with your girlfriend. The Romo surname is another interesting thing to find out about. It seems to be original from spain but....who knows......

JC

Re: The Fuel Family in Scotland

Dear JC,

I have found a Fuel in just about every country in Europe. I found one is Spain. There are at least 14 ways to spell Fuel.
In the Sudan, near the seat of mankind, there is a family called DAK-Fuel--they are black. I have found black Fuels here in the United States. I found a Fuel in Spain. I havnt found any in South America. However, I havnt looked there.
I have a girlfriend by the name of Norma Romo. So, that was interesting that it is part of your fathers name.
Tracing my family line back, there was a John Fuel born in Scotland. He had a son by the name of John Fuel that was born in Scotland and married to Evelyn Cooley. Then there is a John Fuel that was born in the USDA--Mass. And, he was married to Evelyn Cooley. So, I figure that he was the same guy as the one born in Scotland. I couldnt find any records of him in Scotland. I found a Fuel in Ireland. There are still a lot of Fuels in England. I figure a grave yard in London might show some Fuels. There are lots of Fuels in Denmark, Norway, Germany, France and just about all European countries. My name is Robert Fuel. There was a Robert Fuel in England in the year 1010. So, I figure his family came from somewhere in Europe.

In the United States, Fuels have been on both sides of most wars. In the American Revolutionay War, the Civil War, and WWI and WWII--there were Fuels on both sides. There was a woman by the name of Mary Fuel that was in the early american colonies when they first came to the new world.

Robert Leon Fuel
rfuel@yahoo.com

Florence Ellen Fuel

I am researching the parents of Florence Ellen Fuel/Fewell b. June 3, 1868. Florence married Robert Worth Johnson in Coryell County July 23, 1884. She had 2 siblings considerably younger, Annice Oleana Lacey and Ollie Belle Harmon. Ollie Belle's death cert. lists her mother as Elizabeth Lale and father as James Fewell both of Arkansas. It also lists Ollie Belle's husband as Lester Harmon, when in actuality, his name was Leslie Walton Harmon. I don't know how acurate the information on the death cert. is. I found Elizabeth buried in Tularosa, New Mexico, but there was no death cert for her in the state of New Mexico.
Any information on these people would be greatly appreciated.

We are definately related. My Great Grandfather was John Henry Fuel brother to your great grandmother Lena.My mother Martha Robinson remembers visiting her Aunt Lena in Alabama.Do you have the name of Taylor's father or mother. I have narrowed it down to a few possibilities but can't pinpoint. If you have the parents of either Taylor or Emma I would be an awesome help. Have some great pictures of Zach and Emma with different kids and settings if you are interested. John Henry and his wife are buried at Henry Cemetry in Corinth where we just last week buried his daughter my grandmother Dell Robinson. My parents are retired living in Trenton, TN and I live in Memphis. Would be glad to meet and share info if you are close by.

Hi Jennifer. I am researching my family history and found that my grandmother's mother was Ellen Fuell married to James Thomas Woodley they lived in London (around St Marylbourne). My grandmother was born in 1905, so they would have been married within the previous ten years I would think. It is a long shot, but if this sounds familiar, let me know. Thanks. Rob
