Hi,Robyn! I just came across your post during a search and wondered if you were related to my Aunt Clara Fuhrman. My aunt was born in 1898 and had a sister named Gladys, and her father's name was Henry Fuhrman Jr. Does any of that sound familiar? If so, perhaps we can compare notes.

Jean

Tim, I know very little, my family stayed in Pennsylvania. My Great, great grandfather, Daniel Fuhrmann came over in 1853, out of port from Le Havra, France it appears about 7 % of the population came from that port. They were mostly from Baden and Bavaria. I have been searching ship records from 1853 and it shows about 5 people coming over in different months, from Bavaria. I have added these people hoping they might be his sisters. However, no leads on them so far, can't find a husband to go with them.

Most of the family was labours or farmers, in Pa. I found documents in paid taxes that Daniel worked as a cattle broker.

I wished more folks would have more information. I know someone out there must have old family bibles or documents.

Victoria

Hi Susan,
Rogers City is on the Lake Huron coast, about an hour south of the Mackinaw Bridge--so it's pretty far from Muskegon and Benton Harbor. BUT...August and his wife (whoever she was! but that's another story) lived in Detroit for 2 years before moving north. They homesteaded west of Rogers City, and the farm is still in the family over 130 years later. August was born about 1825 in Germany, but I don't know anything about his parentage. I know it was common for siblings to move to America and live near siblings who were already there, so that's why I was wondering if there's a connection...even though Muskegon and Rogers City are so far apart! :-)

Thanks for any info you can provide, connected to my family or not! It all helps.

Susan

Hi Susan, Do you have any idea about where Rogers City is ??
I don't have a map handy, and am just not familiar with MI
except for the fact that I have a general idea where Muskegon and Benton Harbor are. I don't know for sure if Martin has any siblings, but I sort of have this gut feeling that he does. August sounds familiar... It seems I remember seeing an August in my list of possible connections to Martin. What I do know is that Martin had children Gustav, born in 1857,Minnie (Wilhelmina),born abt.1852,Julia A., born 1855 and Emilie Ann,born 1869. All were born in Germany.Emilie was born in Posen Schreidemuhle ( or something like that..(can't read it very well). Much of my info was out of my husband's grandfather's German Lutheran catachism ? book. His mother was Emilie. My father gave us some photos that he got after his parents passed away, and one of them, he believes is Martin with some family members. There are no names on the back of the photo,so it's really anybody's guess who they are. I just wish that I could be of more help... This family has been pretty elusive .... Oh,my father in law did say that most of the Fuhrmans that he remembered lived in Muskegon. If you have any more questions,I'd be more than happy to help..if I can.
Thanks !
Susan
Anyway, do you know anything about Martin's ancestry--who his parents were, or any siblings?
Hi Susan,
I have ancestors from Germany with the last name of Fuhrman but everything is very sketchy. Karl & Frederike ( neé Fuhrman) Frantz gave birth to my gggrandmother Ida Emile Frantz who immigrated to US in 1894. They were from Halle Germany. Frederike, from what I can tell was born to Johanne Fuhrman[nee Kohler, b. 1803, d. 1891 in Halle, Germany]. No name of the husband available. Confusing dates. Any connection?

Johannes Fuhrmann Ships Passenger list 27 Oct 1764 Rotterdam to Pennsylvania

Hi,

On this list I found last eve was mentioned a Johannes Fuhrmann.

Ships Passenger list dated Saturday, 27th, October, 1764. Ship-Hero out of Rotterdam to Pennsylvania.

Am wondering if anyone knows anything about Johannes Fuhrmann? In USA the 2nd N was invariably dropped.

Birth date & location, Parents & or siblings names, any info might help us determine if he is related.

Our family lore states that 2 ancestors 2 or 3 generations apart came to the USA. WE have found only my Great Great Grandfather b. 1819 who came to Wisconsin via New York in 1844. Our Johannes shows in German records birth only. It is believed but unproven he may have gone to USA.

Thank you so much for any help you may be able to give,
Kathy
