Hi Rose, it's good to finally connect. I went to Hurricane Cemetery several weeks ago trying to find John W. Lawyer's grave. I did not succeed, but I did notice several Fulkerson graves. I have a copy of "The Prairie Sleeps" in my lap, and will give you all the Fulkerson information from Hurricane Cemetery. I emailed this to you, but wanted to post it here, in case you don't get my email.

Fulkerson, Jacob H., no dates
Fulkerson, Lucinda (Gill), no dates
Fulkerson, (son of J. H. & L.), infant, 3-15-1869

I notice that Barbara lived until 1901, so will check 1880 and 1900 census for her. I also notice that two children of Jacob (related?) died within two days of each other. I will check to see if any newspaper is available around that date to see if I can find out what may have happened.

I am also working with Marvin Frank Lawyer from Urbana on James W Lawyer who settled near Diona a few years after John W Lawyer and also came from Frederick Co, VA. I learned from another researcher that John's father Philip died of kidney disease, which Marvin and his entire line suffers from. There seems to be a conflict on the middle initial for James between VA and IL, which may mean nothing.

I cannot discern from the papers from the Sargent collection whether John and Catherine had a son Philip or someone was stating that John was the son of Philip. These papers were supposedly donated to the Illinois State Archives, so I'm going to see if I can get my hands on the originals. There are several obituaries from the early 1900's as well as John's information.

Found the following in 1870 Census for Cumerland County, Union Twp, Diona Post Office:

Page 319b, House 243, Family 248:
Fulkerson, George, age 56, born VA
Fulkerson, Olivia B., age 54, born VA

Page 323, House 298, Family 303:
Fulkerson, George, age 23, born VA
Fulkerson, Emely, age 20, born IN
Fulkerson, Lillie A, age 1, born IL

Don't know if you already have this, but wanted to share.
