Classification: Query
Surnames: fuller, griffith, o'donohoe, o'donoghue
I'm trying to trace my gg grandfather Francis Fuller, born about 1836, New York America (according to the census entries)
My G grandmothers birth cert (Julia Ann Fuller) has her parents as Francis Fuller and Margaret nee O'Donoghue.
I have been able to trace both Margaret and Francis (and his second wife- Ellen) through the censuses back to 1871, when they have a one year old boy - Stephen, born in Liverpool.
But i have not been able to trace either of Francis's marriages nor Stephen's birth. I have been able to find all their other children's birth in FREEBMD.
A fluke look up in FREE BMD lead me to the following marriage and birth (and i have copies of the certificates)
12th July 1870, All Saints Liverpool; Francis Fuller Griffith (30, batchelor, corn porter, 13 great homer street, Liverpool; father John Henry Griffith, provision dealer) and Margaret O'Donohue (23, spinster, 25 great homer street, Liverpool; father timothy O'Donohue , Labourer) [marriage by banns]
15th August 1870 Stephen Timothy Fuller Griffith parents Francis fuller Griffith and Margaret nee O'Donohue. Born at 30 Trueman street, Liverpool (dale street area - though the street name is not very clear it does look a good match)
The ages for Francis and Margaret are in the right ball park, as is Francis's job - porter/ labourer/dock labourer which all fit with corn porter.
I've looked at both addresses in the 1871 census and there are no griffiths or o'donohues.
In the 1871 census Francis, Margaret and Stephen Fuller are at Johnston street, literally two streets down from Trueman street.
i have searched freeBMD/ censuses for this griffiths family to no avail. could this be the same family? And any pointers on how i could prove it (if i can)?
I've looked at the IGI pilot search and can find a couple of possible matches for Francis Fuller in the US censuses but no Francis Fuller Griffith nor have i had any success yet finding the parents John Henry Griffith or Timothy O'Donohue (or o'donohoe) in UK/Ireland nor US
Any help/ pointers would be wonderful!
