Arthur A. FULTON

I have located an Arthur A. FULTON in the 1920 census. He was living with Bertha (age 42 and probably his wife) in Fort Dodge City (Wahkansa???? Twp.), Webster County, IA. Arthur's age at the time (41) and birthplace (PA) fit in with the other information I have on him. My paternal grandfather was Arthur A. FULTON, and I am trying to ascertain if this is the same person. Any information is appreciated. If this is a match, I have a great deal of information to share.

Jane (Fulton) Taylor

Hi! In the Fulton archives here, I found many postings from a Jeff Miller who was researching the same Fulton line I am. However, I cannot find an up-to-date contact email for him. Would anyone happen to be able to pass that on? You can email me privately if you want.

I am researching a line of Fultons from MS - Oktibbeha and possibly Marshall Counties. Someone posted a message in 2003 about Fultons and Edwards but the email bounced. Would like to contact this person (old address: clilley@adelphia.net)

Looking for Scott (Edward?) Fulton

My father, James Edward Fulton Jr., died in June 1989. My mother and his family were not on good terms, and so I have no contact information for that entire half of my family.

Jim had a son by a previous marriage whom I am extremely interested in contacting. I have been told that his name is Scott, and it is believed that his middle name is Edward.

Jim had a brother who died in a fire and a tattoo of an Ace of Spades on his forearm. He also served two terms of duty in Viet Nam. I believe he was born in Chicago, IL, in 1955.

Steamboat Robert Fulton in Pittsburgh

I am doing research on riverboat families in Pittsburgh including Robert Fulton and his business partners Judge Robert R Livingston and Nicolas Roosevelt. I have records that Robert Fulton purchased a farm 13 miles south of Pittsburgh in 1795. The records show that his mother, brother and three sisters are living with Thomas and Elizabeth Pollock.

Alexander Hamilton's mother was Rachael Fawcett and his grandmother was Elizabeth Pollock. Since Robert Fulton is married to Robert R Livingston's sister and Alexander Hamilton was married to Elizabeth Schyler who was a Livingston relative, it seems everyone is related. More so since Nicolas Roosevelt is Teddy Roosevelt's great uncle and Teddy Roosevelt was also related to Robert R Livingston.

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about Robert Fulton when he was living in Pittsburgh.

The Steamboat "New Orleans" by Robert Fulton

I am doing research on the Steamboat "New Orleans" built by Robert Fulton in Pittsburgh around 1810. His business partners at the tiem were Judge Robert R Livingston and Nicholas Roosevelt. Nicholas Roosevelt was Teddy Roosevelt's great uncle.

I have found records that Robert Fulton's mother, brother and three sisters were living in Pittsburgh with the Pollock and Fawcett families who are relatives of Alexander Hamilton.

I have also found records that Robert Fulton is married to Judge Robert R Livingston's youngest sister Harriet Livingston and Alexander Hamilton is married to General Phillip Schuyler's daughter Elizabeth. Elizabeth Schuyler's mother is Catherine Van Rensselaer. Catherine is the daughter of Johannes Van Rensselaer and Engeltje Livingston.

I have also found records that the Roosevelts are related to the Livingston, Schuyler and Van Rensselaer families.

Since the Pollock and Fawcett family of Pittsburgh seem to be married into the Alexander Lewis family of Pittsburgh, I am looking into a possible connection that the Lewis and Clark Expedition out of Pittsburgh in 1803 might be connected to the first steamboat out of Pittsburgh in 1810. Alexander Lewis is the grand nephew of George Washington and the second cousin to Meriwether Lewis. Robert R Livingston was the Judge that swore in George Washington as President in 1789 with Thomas Jefferson as the head of the Department of State with Alexander Hamilton as head of the Department of Treasury. Later in 1802, Aaron Burr became Vice President and Thomas Jefferson became President. At that time, Judge Livingston had arranged the Louisiana Purchase from Napoleon which prompted the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1803.

Alexander & Laury Jane (Lucas) Fulton - PA & IN, mid 1800's

I'm stuck. Does anyone have anything to offer about Alexander Fulton & Laury Jane {Lisa/Liza/Jane] Lucas, both born about 1822 in Centre Co, PA?

married 1846 or 1844

Children: John Wesley Fulton - b.1846, Centre Co, PA
Milton Henry Fulton - b.1848, Huntington Co, IN
James B. Fulton - b.1850, Huntington Co, IN
Eliza Jane (Fulton) Hite - b.1852, Huntington Co, IN
Andrew Fulton - b.1854, Huntington Co, IN
Ester/Hester Ann Fulton - b.1857, Huntington Co, IN
Susan/Susannah Fulton - b.1861, Huntington Co, IN
Irvin McBride Fulton - b.1865, Huntington Co, IN

Irvin is my gg-grandfather who married Hannah Biehl (b.1860), a 1st gen German-American in 1884.

1860 US Census lists Alexander's father having been born in Ireland, and his mother in Germany. Laury Jane's parents were born in PA. No listing is found in the 1850 US Census, and all previous ones only list head of household's name. :[

There was another lady looking for this info on this couple, but that was back in 2000, and no one had replied. I'm attempting to contact her.

In the meantime, any hints would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you!

Robert Fulton and Juilra have a fight and may be mortally wounded at Anadarko, Oklahoma

Appears in "The Wapanucka Press" 28 April 1904, Wapanucka, Johnston County, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma

DRUNKEN INDIANS FIGHT

Anadarko: Two Wichita Indians, Robert Fulton and Juilra of this place, engaged in an encounter here, and as a result both are seriously if not mortally wounded. Juilra was drunk and approached Fulton, stabbing him twice in the back and four times in the neck and face. Fulton by this time got his knife and slashed Juilra across the face and throat and broke the knife blade in Julira's head, the blade remaining. Both are under arrest. It is thought that this will give the government authorities some clue as to where the Indians procure whisky and several arrests will likely follow.

Steamboat Robert Fulton in Pittsburgh

I am trying to confirm a grave site in Pittsburgh as belonging to the Fulton family of Robert Fulton. Robert Fulton purchased a farm about 20 miles south of Pittsburgh in Hopewell, Washington County. He purchased it with Thomas Pollock and it was for use by both the Pollock and Fulton families. The Cemetery where the grave site is located is about 15 miles north east of the farm in the riverboat building community of Mckeesport/Elizabeth area of Pittsburgh.

The lot is deeded to E. M. Fulton and W. W. Hunter. Ella B Findley who was born in 1855 and died in 1876 is buried in the lot as well as 10 people from the Hunter and Douglas families. I know just about everyone in that area of the cemetery are riverboat people. Names are Pollard, Dunshee, Dunseith, Lewis, Clark, Simms, McIntyre, Fulton, McKee, Oliver, Pollock. I do know the Hunter, Douglas, Simms familys are connected to Meriwether Lewis historically but I don't know if these families in the cemetery are connected. The Dunseith and Dunshee families were riverboat builders. Daniel Pollard who is located in the lot was the Caption on General Grant's flag ship at Vicksburg. Everyone is buried together within a 60 foot circle. I also believe that Robert Fulton's family are connected to the Findley's in some way but I am not sure of that. This cemetery is located overlooking the the river and at the location many believe is the area where Meriwether Lewis left on his expedition Aug 31 1803. John McKee, the founder of McKeesport is in the center of the 60 ft circle. The Pollock family is slightly out of the circle and next to the Stewart and Stone families.

Please contact me at mahard@jps.net

Looking for family papers and photograph for Samuel Fulton and his children. I have a great deal of material, which I am putting together in a collection for the Southern Historical Society and would like to digitize any materials relating to Samuel, his children or earlier generations.

Samuel Fulton was a planter in the area of Walnut Cove, Stokes County, NC.
Steamboat Robert Fulton of Pittsburgh

I have records that in 1811 Robert Fulton and L.R. Livingstone moved to Pittsburgh to build the first long distance steamboat called New Orleans. It was owned by Nicolas Roosevelt.

My family operated riverboats out of Pittsburgh since the late 1700's. I am trying to sort out cemetery records on who is related to whom. All the families in the cemetery within 200 feet of each other operated riverboats out of Pittsburgh from 1800 to 1900. Many families seem to be related. I have a combination of Fulton and Findley members with the Simms, Douglass and Hunters family of the Meriwether's of Meriwether Lewis. Meriwethers. I believe the connection is through Col Charles Simms who married Nancy Douglas of the Douglas Hunter family of the Meriwether's. The Pollards are 20 ft away and they are for sure related to the Meriwether's

The Cemetery is I believe in the same location where Meriwether Lewis's boat was built in 1803. For sure it is located on Braddock's trail overlooking the river crossing on the way to the battlefield at Turtle Creek where Gen Braddock lost his life July 9 1755.

Anyway, I have a E.M.Fulton and a Ella B Findley. No dates for E.M. Fulton but I do know Ella was born 1854 and died March 8 1876. Any ideas of who these Fulton/Findley people might be. I have heard that the Robert Fulton family is somehow married into the Findley family but I could be wrong.

Captain John Harvey Morse Fulton - Hampshire/Liverpool UK

Looking for more information on John Harvey Morse Fulton who captained the "City of Paris" in the 1800s. He was born in 1838 in Portsmouth, UK and died a week before his 101st birthday in 1939 in Liverpool.

His nephew was Commander Frank Worsley who was with Shackleton on his Antarctic edpedition.

John Fulton appears on the 1881 census as a widower, with five children, born between 1870 and 1878. I cannot find any marriage details though another ancestry member's tree suggests that his wife's maiden name may have been Fosbrook.

He appears again on the 1901 census in Liverpool, living alone.

Any information gratefully received.

Sarah Bradlee and John Fulton of Boston and Medford MA

I'm seeking documentation that names the children of Sarah Bradlee and John Fulton. In particular, of their firstborn, Sarah Lloyd Fulton (or Sarah Lord Fulton). Their daughter Sarah was born in Boston and is listed in a variety of books including the History of the Bradlee Family, but the genealogist who wrote it listed no sources for his information.

Any documentation which can connect Sarah to her parents would be tremendously appreciated! Please feel welcome to email me at talesofthesevenseas@hotmail.com

-Claire Warren

I've just uploaded all the photos from an old album of my grandfather's. He was an Atkins, tho there are no Atkins photos. The people shown are from his maternal grandmother's side and include the names of Fulton, Burley, Booth and Barrowcliff. The Booth-Burley family immigrated from Yorkshire, England, to Cincinnati, then on to Zion, IL. Many of the pictures are unidentified, but if you can see anyone you can put a name to, please let me know at laurieshouse@googlemail.com.

The photos are at picasaweb.google.com/laurieshouse

FULTON of Colorado Springs, have arrived in Beatrice, being called here by the death of their mother, Mrs. Sarah FULTON.

From the front page of the Wednesday, November 5, 1902 Beatrice (Nebraska) Daily Sun:
Mrs. FULTON's Funeral
Mrs. J. B. FULTON was buried from the family residence yesterday at 3 o'clock, the interment being made in Evergreen Home cemetery. The funeral services were simple, in keeping with the life of the deceased.
Rev. W. A. Mulligan read a psalm, Rev. Dr. Crofts paid a tribute to the life and character of the departed. Rev. W. H. Kearns also spoke of the christian virtues of Mrs. FULTON and closed his remarks with a fervent prayer.
The casket was covered with flowers, sent in by friends who were real mourners. The funeral was largely attended, and every person present showed that they sincerely mourned the loss of a woman who had lived in the neighborhood for over a quarter of a century, and whose life had been devoted to others, rather than herself.
The pall bearers were: Elijah Filley, M. E. Shultz, M. T. Kors, A. J. Johnson, Dr. G. L. Roe, and G. P. Marvin.
After the casket had been lowered into its last resting place, and the preacher had read the burial service, two little granddaughters threw flowers upon the casket, and the mourners and friends sorrowfully departed, feeling that they had paid the last tribute that the living can pay to the dead.
