Eve Fults / Moses Myers - Warren County, TN

I received a lead yesterday as to the identity of the parents of Ephraim Fultz Myers, my great-great-grandfather - have been searching for this for 30+ years. I have believed for some time that his father is Moses Myers, b in VA probably around 1801, and died sometime prior to the 1850 census. The lead names his mother as Eve Fults, b 1798 in VA and d 1857 in Warren County, TN. Eve Moyers/Myers is in the 1850 Warren Co., TN, census as head of household and was born in 1798 in VA. The clue indicates that Moses Myers died in March 1850 in Warren Co., however, the Moses Myers in the 1850 Mortality Schedule is only 30 years old. I believe this Moses Myers is probably a son of Moses and Eve. Moses Myers, the elder, is listed in the 1838 Tax Schedules for Warren County. Ephraim Fultz Myers is probably named after Eve's elder brother, Ephraim Fults who married a Ruth Myers (still searching for a Myers connection here).

Eve is the daughter of George Fults, b 1755 in VA, and Catherine Kite. George is the son of John Fults, b 1728 in Rhineland, Pfalz, Germany, and d June 1806 in Augusta Co., VA.

If you have any information on the above family connections, please contact me.

Thank you.

Ron Turner
turner.rj0815@flash.net

Looking for information about my gggg grandfather, Henry Cleveland "Baker" Fults born 1830/died 1919 in TN. He was a Seargent in the Civil War in the 35th Tennessee Regiment. Here's his service record:Henry Cleveland Fults
Rank at enlistment: Sergeant
State Served: Tennessee
Survived the War?: Yes
Service Record: Enlisted in Company A, Tennessee 35th Infantry Regiment.

Death Date: 19 Aug 1919
I have heard that he had an unusual role in the civil war and I was wondering if anyone knew what it was. Was he a double spy or something like that? I have also heard that he was an indian fighter in the western states after the civil war. Does anyone have any records proving this? Any help you can give will really be appreciated. Thanks! Brandi
We could possibly be looking for the same person. I am looking for information on Carrie Bell Fults (b. 1895), daughter of Louiza Fults (b. 1871). Carrie was from TN (I think Grundy). She had two children: Carl (1919-1976) and Rebecca (b. 1912). She died young, and the children were raised separately. Carl was my grandfather and was raised by Live and Elvira Fults. Rebecca was supposedly adopted by a doctor in Virginia. Carl was my grandfather, and I would love to find out about his family (and maybe find his sister/sister's family).

Mine is too my dad confirmed it while stationed in Germany back in the early 70's he actually spent his weekends in their homes while he was stationed there. He just think about coping the family records to bring home a blunder he has regretted for yrs.We very well may be cousins I have traced the Fults to Montgomery County,NY but I hit a dead end in my research because I can only search the free sites because I'm on a limited budget so I can't afford the family tree pay sites.Had several people tell me I was wrong but even my baby brother has traced the Fults to Montgomery County,NY to the same names. If we went the other way that one goes to Virginia but some of the names don't match up and their migration doesn't match up either. So I decided to go another route I decided to just ask if anyone is related to Rueben Fults/Fultz he used both spellings and Laura Lou Ella Hayes its worked somewhat so far.I still search tho when I get a chance. Here is my email address:
redbomchele33@msn.com

The similarity between the two is striking. But, my line of Fults/Folts, etc came from Germany, most likely with the other Palantines and settled in Montgomery County, NY. The exodus from Montgomery/Herkimer County started after the Revolutionary War until first half of the 1800's. I have several family lines that can be traced back to this area and time period.

Scott

Here is the pic I spoke of you can see a similarity in features which got me wondering. His name happens to be John Fults.I don't know much about his father because his father was a migrant worker and they traveled all over the United States including your area we aren't sure were Rueben came from.John can't be from your album he is too young but my great grandfather wouldn't be he would be a young man during the years those pics were taken. My grandmother would tell her kids we had relatives all over even in coal country.I do know her husband my grandfather came from Pennsylvania his father was a coal miner there till my grandfather was 10yrs old then they moved to Dayton,TN.
Let me know what you think of the similarity.According to my cousin John's granddaughter John is suppose to be the very image of our great grandfather Rueben.

The names on the photo are:

L - Addie + Mary Fults
R - Cousin "Hiram" I believe + Rozina Fults

The photo album originally belonged to Rozella House because there are references to "Zell's"....

Rozella House was the daughter of John House and Eliza Ann Jeffers. John House died during the civil war and Eliza then married Jacob Cranker who was my gg grandfather. Rozella never married and may have been mentally disabled.

My mother who is in her 70's remembers Rozella living with them.

On the back cover of the book is written "Sarah Jeffers Album"

I do have a Sara Jeffers and she is a sister to Eliza.

Scott

Thank you so much for the details! I found a Nancy Abigal (Abigail?) Mason who married Casper Myers and that's as far back as I can find on this path.

I also found that Ephraim Fults was the son of George Fultz and Catherine Kite and grandson of Johannes Voltz (b. date/place unknown? d. 1806?) and Catherine unknown.

Hi,

Your Fults family can be traced back to Ephraim Fults and Ruth Myers. They both were born in Warren/Grundy county area of Tennessee. Ephraim 1791-June 25, 1837 died in Tennessee. After his death his wife Ruth January 17, 1794-October 15, 1875 moved with most of her children to Carroll Co. Arkansas. She is buried in Sneed cemetery in Carroll county. She was the daughter of Casper Myers and Abagail unknown. Your Daniel W. 1829-1879 was their 8th child.

Hi Diann,

Thank you for writing.

No, unfortunately, Mema (Velma) passed away in Feb 2004. We miss her more than I can say. You may know that Lawson passed away in 1978. I believe that's about right re: Kay Lynn's age. My mother, Carolyn, (Velma and Lawson's only child) is a bit older than you two and lives in Bastrop. She is in touch with Aunt Ivy and Kay Lynn fairly often.

I live between Elgin and Bastrop, so I'm not very far from you as the crow flies! I will make a note to contact you in a couple of weeks via email. My email address is rboon@austin.rr.com.

Take care and I will chat with you soon.

Cousin Rebecca

LaMerle, Velma & I used to look alike. Kay Lynn & I are about the same age. I am older, 69. She must be in her late 60s. Had never even hoped to make contact with Velma/Lawson's part of the family.
I also have been working the Choate side of the family for yrs 15-20). Have quite a lot on them, also. Will do my best to get back in touch with you when I can see better. Two weeks is the "return to doc" appmt & by then swelling should all be gone.Surgery was 1-12. Meantime, don't lose touch with me and I will eventually be able to help you a lot.
What part of state do you live in? I am in central part-right on I35, south of Waco.
Cousin, Diann dspence@hot.rr.com

I haven't been able to find any information prior to Daniel's birth in 1827. I appreciate any information that anyone might have in order to trace this line further back.

Will,

I am so happy to read your synopsis and to know some distant relations! Your g-g-grandfather William is a brother of my g-grandfather Benjamin McCollough. One of Benjamin's daughters, Velma Fults Mitchell, (1911-2004), was my maternal grandmother. I have been trying to find information about Daniel, his siblings, parents and further back with no luck. With everyone passed on now it is hard to piece the story together, so if you have any information about our family, I would greatly appreciate connecting with you.
Was your g-g-grandfather, Daniel, married to Martha Rebecca Styles (I've also seen this name written as "Stiles" - also have seen mentioned that she was an Indian, but I don't know which tribe)? Yours may be a different Fults line, but I am trying to find information about Daniel, his parents (Alfred or perhaps Ephraim?) and further back. So far I haven't had any luck and appreciate any information that anyone has. The Daniel Fults' family I am a descendent of eventually moved from TN to Ark and then on to Shelby County, TX.

Dianne,

You are my missing link! I just saw your posts in 2005 on the Fults board with Connie Hollon. You are talking about the Fults and the Vickers. You mention several times an unknown John Fults and a George Fults. John is my grandfather. His sister married a Vickers. In the 1880 Tennessee Census...it lists them as John Futts...I found this by accident. He is living with his sister at that time. I have been trying to trace him for awhile now. I know he is of indian blood like you mentioned. If you ever saw him and a photo of my dad (his son) you would know that with out a doubt. Please, please share your information with me. On John's death certificate in 1925 it lists his father as "something" Marshall. Anything you can share would be a God send.

Thank you!

Judy Fults Shumate

Photo Album

I need some help. I have in my posession a photo album dated at least 1865 and my guess from 1870's to 1890's. I will share what is written in the album and hopefully someone can connect the dots. Some photos are missing but there are names where the photos once belonged as well as names with the photos that are present. I am only giving the names as there are photos with no names attached.

The photo album book is roughly 3.5" x 5" x 1" thick with heavy cover and metal clasp. Inside one of the covers has a name

Sarah Jeffers Album

1. "zells"
"Aunt Sloom House". I suspect "Sloom" should be Salome.

2. "zells"
"Uncle Jake House". Perhaps Jake should be Jacob?

3. "Cousin Hirm & Rozina Fults
"Addie & Mary Fults" This photo is of two women standing behind two men.

4. "Grandparents"
"J_ll & Martha Jeffers" Photo Missing

5. "zells"
"Uncle Jake House"

As I said this dates back to a max of 1865 as there is a copyright on one of the pages.

Scott Barker
sbarker3@ptd.net

Did Daniel Fults have a sister named Margaret Eveline Fults? My gg grandmother Margaret Eveline Fults married James Jefferson Rhea in Grundy County about 1859, she was born in app. 1837-1839. In the 1860 and 1870 Grundy Co. census, a Polly Fults was living with them, but don't know if that is Eveline's mother or grandmother.

Thanks for any information you can help me with.

Karen G.
