Hi Antoine
Sorry; I think I hit a wrong button and accidently sent a partial message.
I have found Karl's:
Statement of intent to become a Citizen filed Jun 1890. It says he entered thru the port of Detroit on or about Jun 1889
Application for Citizenship filed in Roseau Co. MN dated May 1897
His Naturalization papers filed 19 MAY 1897.
Minnesota 1895 Census says he was living w/ Kristina , his spouse and 3 children and his father in law, Nils Risberg.
US Federal Census 1900 says he was living w/ his wife, 5 children and Nils Risberg.
On 06 Nov 1900, He received a 160 acre homestead grant. He built his home on that land and lived there until he died.
I have found a number of mortgages against the farm but he always paid his debts. He is known as being one of the pioneer settlers of Roseau Co. MN and as a kind and pleasant man.
I do have a picture but do not know how to e-mail it. I also have a family picture of Karl, Kristina and their family.
I am interested in knowing more about Johan Eric's family. I would like to know his spouse and children's names and birthdates. Can you help me. Actually any information would be wonerful.
I am anxious to hear from you again soon and learn more about my family.
I must tell you that I will be on vacation from this Sat. 29 Jul 06 for about 2 weeks so if you try to contact me you will understand why I am slow to respond.
Darlene

Thank you for the information. As you probably know, your grandfather John Erik was named after my grandfather, Johan Erik. Johan and Karl emigrated together to the US in 1888. Karl remained in the US, while my grandfather returned to Stromsund in 1901, married, and started his family there. They emigrated to the US in 1905, perhaps staying with Karl before moving on to Spokane, Washington.
I would appreciate any information/photos you have. I am particulary interested in knowing what happened during this period 1888-1901. Perhaps you have photos.
Antoine.

Hej Anna!

Tusen tack för ditt svar och Hjärtlight Tack för era uppgifter och hjälpen!

The marvelous information you sent takes me back in time to Grelsgård and I find myself reading your message over and over.

There is now a framed parchment copy over my desk of Olof and Magdalena Funseth's Grelsgård birth entries, including that of my grandfather, Johan Erik.

Perhaps I could ask you a few questions in the future about this information after I have assimilated it.

"It is vital in all cultural life to maintain a link between the present and the past.
