Julia Thompkins, is listed in the 1850 Census in Branch Co, Mi., living with the Silas Thompkins family. It is believed to be her in laws. But no proof of that. In a state census in 1854 Julia is listed as head of family with two young girls in that entry.
I be interested to get any information about her birth place or any lead to her maiden name. I am also looking for a death date for her.

Hi noticed all your Ferguson's & I do have many with the same names but from what I know they all came from Canada. I have only gotten as far back as the 1850's or so. Maybe we do have a connection some where in the earlier line of Ferguson's. I'm still looking & have found more information then what I started with. I was also told the Ferguson name descented from Scotch-Irish line.If you like I can send you an invite to view my Family Tree on Ancestry so you can check my Tree with yours & let me know if there is a connection or not.
Barbara: Thank you for replying. Nothing seems to click so far. I have so little information on this family. I fear that I will have to actually go to L&A to the historical society to make any connections. Well, there is a nice summer trip. My ancestors-Fergusons arrived from Ireland around 1849 I believe to that area.
I will keep your info as you never know!! At one point odd Bower names were not connected from this area as well, but they are all connected now! ;)
Thanks again Barbara.
Jwilliams

I too am researching in Ontario Furgeson/Ferguson primarilly around Kingston and Napanee areas but I am not sure where everyone went after a certain point. My John Furgeson and Jane Barclay were first seen in 1851 census Amherst Island with one child Robert age 12 yrs. also born in Ireland. Other children born here in Ontario were James about 1845,Margaret 1849 who married William Irvine Vanalstine, and William born 1851 who married Margaret Catherine Allison in 1872. William was at one point a barber in Napanee, Ont. William is my line but it is the other siblings I would love to find out about. There are too many with the same names in the area with close dates...argggg!!
Any connections here? Will share info.
jwilliams

This is the first time the name Furgeson has come up in my research of the Bill name. Sorry, the other Furgeson names don't ring a bell. Elizabeth and George Bill were married in Ottawa county (Northern Ohio) in 1851. I expect that Elizabeth was around 20 at that time. She was alive in 1890, living in Detroit, with her son William Bill. She was listed as George's widow in the 1890 Detroit census. Now you know all that I do about Elizabeth. I hope that is of some help in your search.

She married a John Coast and had a son George Coast who was born in West Virginia, or at least I think so.
Thanks for your time,
Joe

As a matter of fact I don't. But I do have an Enoch Fitzhenry/Henry who had a cousin named Major William Fortune b.30 Dec 1748 Newry, Down, Ireland died Aft 1821 Pointe Fortune ,Eastern Ontario. Enoch's descendant Emily Fitzhenry married Michael Jeremiah Ferguson. Supposedly Enoch visited his cousin, who had more family in Canada, and William Fortune visited the states quite often. I wouldn't be surprised to find Ferguson in Canada that connect with these surnames. What do you have in Canada?
