Re: Gaba, Agrippina, Ukraine
I probably have less information than you do, but my great grandmother was married to an Elkow (I think his name was Jon). They were both born in the late 1890s and their marriage was arranged at birth. When her family defected to the US in 1901, they brought him with them and he and my great grandmother (Katherine) married at age 14 and had four daughters in or near what is now Springfield, Oregon. They had a farm and a hazelnut orchard and Jon died in his mid-30s. Katherine raised her daughters alone and lived until 1989 in the Springfield area. She was a remarkable woman and I'm searching for any information I can find, as well. I don't know how common the surname was in the Ukraine, and I don't know her maiden name, unfortunately, so I have no idea if the families are related.
