Hello,
My name is Dan Gaba (John Daniel Gaba). I currently live in New York City, but I was born and raised in Louisville, Ky. My father was Charles Raymond Gaba, originally from Jackson, Tn. Charles Raymond was a Baptist minister and Dermatologist. Charles Raymond's father, my grandfather, was J. Raymond Gaba, a Chief of Police in Jackson, Tn. J. Raymond's father, my great grandfather, was Charles Lafayette Gaba a cabinet maker, also of Tn.
I have also heard of other Gabas. Lester Gaba was a sculptor who made mannequins; highly sought after by New York City department stores in the WWII era. Lester was also the author of several books on soap sculpturing. Then, there's Marianne Gaba of Chicago, Il. Marianne was an actress and Playboy Magazine playmate of the month, September 1959. Amongst other films, she was in the Elvis Presley movie "GII. Blues" and according to gossip/celebrity magazines of the day, was romantically linked with both Elvis Presley and Ricky Nelson, amongst others.
That's about all I know of the Gaba family but would love to know more. I'm especially interested in the country of origin of the Gabas, as I have never heard the same story twice. Any and all information on the Gabas would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to email me with any and all information and questions.
Thanks, Dan Gaba
