Maria "Chris" Gabaldon
1924 ~ 2012
Our loving Mama and Grandma returned home to her Heavenly Father on April 12, 2012 and is reunited with her parents and sister. We will dearly miss our Mama and Grandma. Even though our hearts are broken, we are comforted knowing that we will be reunited one day and until then our Mama and Grandma will be watching over us.
Maria "Chris" Gabaldon was born on November 13, 1924 in Rodarte, New Mexico to Jose and Florentina Duran. She was called to serve an LDS Spanish speaking mission in the late 1940's. Chris was married in 1955 and later divorced. From this marriage, she was blessed with two beautiful children who brought her much joy and happiness throughout her life. Some of the most joyous moments in our Mama's life were when her three grandsons were born. She showed so much love and pride in her grandchildren as she cared for them, which brought us wonderful memories that we will cherish until we are all reunited. Our Mama's devotion to her family and church remained constant throughout her life. She loved and looked forward to Sunday dinners with her familia and was a wonderful cook. Mama took great pride in her health, enjoyed taking daily walks in the park and was active in the West Jordan Senior Center. Our Mama worked for over 20 years for Utah State Extension as a Nutrition Aide, a job that she loved and was very good at. She loved all the people that she came into contact with.
Survived by her children Angela Bocage, Paul Gabaldon and daughter-in-law Victoria Gabaldon; grandsons Justin Jean, Andre and Avery Bocage; siblings Tomasita Tofoya, Dale Duran, John Duran and Lupie Dodge; and grand dog Izzy Bocage. Preceded in death by her parents and sister Josie Gabaldon.
