I'm trying to find information on Gabay/Gabaj from the Chicago area, we are purported to be of Slovak origin. My grandfather was Joseph Edward Gabay. I don't have a DOB, but he worked for Crane Plumbing during WW I, married Anna M. Karafa, lived in Berwyn, IL during this time and moved to what is now Crestwood, IL in the 20's or 30's, where he died in 1951. His father, my great-grandfather, owned property/lived in the Wireton area of Blue Island, IL. Noone in the family kept or is keeping records, if any one can help I would be extremely grateful.
