Gabelman family in Germany

The Gabelman family in Germany can be traced to David Gabelmann born 1672 in Hügsweier. He appears very likely to be a son of David Gabelmann b. 1643 and Elisabetha Martin b. 1632, but direct evidence is lacking (only their death records were found, but they are the only Gabelmann family in the records). David Gabelmann born 1672 and wife Anna Maria Hück b. 1670 had 5 sons, 4 of which survived and had families; Michael, David, Johannes and Leonhard. These sons raised families in Hügsweier and Dinglingen. I followed these families 4 generations (early 1800's) before my research led me in a different direction. If you can trace your Gabelmann connections to about 1800, I have a lot of information dating back to the mid 1600's. If you connect after 1800 I am available for reseach at a reasonable rate. Films would have to be reordered.

oil painting by a Bill Gabelman

When cleaning out my grandparents' garage we found an oil painting and written on the back is " Painted by Bill Gabelman 1947- Mt. Healthy O.E.S., Cincinnati, Ohio" It's a picture of a covered bridge over a small river, a canoe in the forground, and lots of trees and greenery all around. My grandparents were active in the Mt. Healthy Eastern Star, and most likely knew Mr. Gabelman. If someone is a descendant of Bill, and would like to have this painting, let me know.

Sometime between 1860-1863 Samuel Jones left and joined the Iowa Vol. in 1863. Ellen remarried to a Gobelman and she died in 1887 and is buried at Zeh cemetery at Niota, IL, Hancock Co. where a number of Jones ancestors are buried. No other Gobelman is buried there. Sam Jones b. 1824 OH married again and died 1917 and is buried in southern Iowa. I wonder if Ellen and Gobelman had children and what became of her children with Samuel Jones
