The George Gabhart that is in the line that I have has the Rev. War pension # S 31.047. Listed as George Gabbert or Gabhart. He was born in 1760 Shenandoah County, Virginia and died in Mercer Co. Ky in July 1851. Henry Gabhart is hes son. This Rev. War record was taken from Heritage Quest Revolutionary War Pension records.
He did live in Burke Co. NC at time of enlistment I believe. He descends ( Matthias-Johan George Gabhardt-Johan Gabhardt b. 1670 Wardorf, Germany)
Hope this helps.

I have been doing research on the Gabhart family for some time and would like to connect my family to their ancestors. I have been told that our family's name was originally spelled "Gebhardt". My gggrandmother, Rachel Gabehart (my grandfather spelled his name Gabhart on documents) appeared in Taylor County, Kentucky, with my ggrandfather, George W. Gabhart, and his brother, John Gabhart. That's the extent of her history. However, My ggrandfather's Civil War pension records state that his father was George Eads!! Would appreciate your input.
Thanks.

Monk-Hi, my name is Ervin Gabhart,- son of Chester W.(b. in Mercer Co, Ky)-son of Thomas Edgar Gabhart & Hallie Devine. I have been doing the "Gabhart Family" for about 5 yrs. and I too am having trouble finding any information on the Gabhart family. I have found out that the Gabhart's of Mercer Co, KY came from Am Kocher, Forcherburg, Gremany. Matheus Gebhard (notice spelling) was b. 1575, His son Petrus changed name to Peter Gebert. The Gebert surname stayed the same until family members came to the USA in 1731. The name was Gebbert until George Gebbert moved to Mercer Co, (SW CORNER NEAR WASHINGTON CO,), THAT'S WHEN IT CHANGED TO Gabhart. I have several documents of the early Gabharts.
Would like to exchange info with you.

Jeron, good to see you are still doing family research. We corresponded a year ago re my g grandfather Franz Seifert. In reply to your query on Kathryn Ellen and Thomas Gabhart I have found the following:

Ellen Seifert is listed in 1880 census as head of household with all children, (Martha, Isaac, and Thomas Gabhart) and (Mary and Edward Seifert) living with her near Mountain, McDonald Co., Missouri. She was listed as 31 years old, widowed and born in Illinois.

1870 census she was listed by name of Eillie Gaphart (note spelling of family name) living with husband Thomas Gaphart (age 38, born in Kentucky) and children; Nancy E (12), William A (10), Isaac K (2), Martha E (1) in Pierce City, Mt. Pleasant Twnshp, Lawrence Co., Missouri. Nancy and William could not have been her children. She would have been too young. Must have been Thomas' children by an earlier wife. Thomas’ brother, William was living next door to Thomas and Eillie in this census. William’s wife was Nancy C. and his children were George and William, Jr.

I can find no mention of either Thomas Gabhart or Kathryn Ellen in 1860 census, probably due to confusion of Civil War.

Thomas T Gabhart was listed in 1850 Census living in Marion Co., Kentucky with parents and siblings. Family name was listed in this census as Gabehart. Father was also named Thomas and mother was Ellen. Had siblings, Sarah, William and Richard

Do you have death dates for your g grandmother Kathryn Ellen and grandmother Mary Elizabeth Seifert. I can't find this information anywhere.

I am trying to locate information on a Mary Gabhart who was born in Kentucky abt 1892. This was taken from the Andrew County MO, Plate Twp 1920 census. She married Obie R Hunt. She is also found in the 1910 census in the same place but recently married with no children.
No Gabharts are located in that area in 1900 so she must have moved with Obie when they were married about 1909. By 1920, I find John H Gabhart and wife Nancy who I believe might be the parents of Mary. Could someone help me?
Anna Sallee (Hannah) in 1889 book 14, page 354. That Anna Lee was born in 1880 and was living with them as a servant and was 19 years of age in Mercer Co.There is also three sons and a dau. listed. It also states that Thomas and Hannah were married 10 years when the census was taken in 1900 States that Hannah was born in Dec. 1856. One child was deaf. Don't know if this helps or not. About all I have on Thomas and Hannah.
Roberta

Jo Ann, sorry, I have no info on the Gabhart family line. I'm trying to find Cynthia's family history but do not know who her parents were. I do know her mother and her aunt were stolen by the indians and supposedly, it was one of the bloodiest battles fought between the whites and indians to get the 2 girls back. I have no idea what tribe supposedly stole my great-grandmother and her sister or what the girls names were. This was passed on from Tennia herself. So that is what I'm trying to find. So far Cynthia is the only Gabhart in my family line and I do not know if that is her maiden name or a married name. If I run across anything I will certainly post the info on here in case it is something you or someone else needs. Thank you for your response but I have no idea if Tennia had brothers and sisters either. I just know from her obituary she was born outside of Lexington Ky 1876 and died in Sioux City Ia 1927 from heart trouble. So any info I come across I will pass on. Let me know if you come across anything also. Thank You again.

Chris, I notice that you spelled Gabhart and Gaphart in the same query. I am looking for a Nancy Ellen Gabhart, said to be born in Lexington, KY. 16 Jul 1876. I wonder if your Centennial and Nancy Ellen could be related. Nancy Ellen Gabhart married Christopher Columbus (Lum)Estes 11 Jul 1893, and they had two sons born in Campbellsville and Lebanon, Ky. then came to MO. settling around Whitesville, Clinton Co., MO. I have come up with zilch for so long, that I have almost given up. Of course that was before I discovered this wonderful message board. So now I am going to try again. Any help would be so appreciated. Thank you. Jo Ann

I have no information on Cynthia A Gabhart or her family. If anyone knows anything I'd sure appreciate the information. Thank You
