I wonder if your "Lafayette George Gable" b. abt 1869 might possibly be the person found in two Georgia census records below. They are: "Lafayette Gable" age 1 (1870) and "Gartwell L. Gable" age 11 (1880). Both years with a George Gable, possibly grandfather. Do these locations and/or other family members make sense in connection to info you have via descendants?

I have census finds for the older George Gable in 1850 and 1860 as well. Also working theories about his place in the southern Gable genealogy, but not definitive. Very interested in info exchanges. I am researching for a descendant of John Gable d. abt 1838 SC m. Mary BETTERTON found 1840 (wid) & 1850 in Habersham Co, GA. Susan Kastan, Nashville TN
