Philip ap Gabriel or ???

In 1758 my ancestor Gabriel Philipps lived in Bucks County, PA when he married Hannah Brower. So far there is no other earlier documentation for Gabriel. (Later documentation of him with surname Phillips is substantial.)
DNA surname matches indicate we have possible Welsh origins and we may have been Welsh. Gabriel would have been born around 1725.
Welsh naming patterns survived in PA and could mean that Gabriel's father may have been Philip ap Gabriel. Do you know of any ap Gabriel in your bloodline?
