COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa -- Ralph 'John' Richard Gabriel, 62 of Columbus Junction died on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Services at Columbus City Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Gabriel was born on April 24, 1939, in Louisa County, the son of Ralph O. and Isabelle Fowler Gabriel.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He worked for Thatcher Manufacturing and later for Rexam Release of Iowa City.
He was a member of the Columbus City Council.
He enjoyed making hobby crafts, woodworking and camping with friends.
Survivors include three brothers, Ephraim Gabriel and his wife, Margaret, of Columbus City, Douglas Gabriel and his wife, Ingrid, of Mount Vernon and Larry Gabriel of Columbus City; and two sisters, Shirley Till and her husband, Frank, of Cassel, Calif. and Marlene Pierce of Columbus City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nadine; and a brother, Edwin Eugene.
