This afternoon, I was on the Polish Genealogical Society of America website and was really just trying one more time (after a few years) of searching for my grandmother's birth. I found it!! But I also found two of her siblings' births, too, but it has confused me.

My g-grandmother's maiden name was Kielbasa (Kiolbasa) but for the birth of her son John in Illinois, she's listed as Josie (Josephine) GACEK. This is confusing me because her first child, Anna, who was born the year prior to John and all 8 children after John, Josephine's maiden name appears as Kielbasa. So, why in between kids would her maiden name change. This GACEK name is not one I've come across at all in the 12 years I've been researching. The father for all children is shown as Frank RUSIN so I know that this is the same mother.

I printed off the index with the LDS number and will be heading over to our local LDS location to search the actual documents. In the meantime, if anyone comes across a Josephine or Josie GACEK residing in Chicago in 1902, please contact me at keelyde @ bellsouth . net.
