My name is Reed Hancock Gaddie, son of Ernest Gaddie, and my mother has been attempting to research this family's origin in Scotland for years. if I may, I would like to refer you to a book printed in 1919 called: "A Family History comprising of the surnames Gade-Gadie-Gaudie-Goudey-Gawdy-Gowdy-..... and varient forms from 800a.d. to 1919a.d." author Hon. Manlon M. Gowdy Providence Rhode Island in the United States.
Have you any information on any of the Gaddie family who left Scotland in the early 1700's, and whose descendants were skilled in the trades - Blacksmith, and work with gold, Silver etc.? Any info would be appreciated. I sent a reply to the University of Aberdeen requesting the origin of the river near there called "Gadie Burne."
Our family traced to Kineff, Arbothnot, and other coastal cities according to our research when we travelled there.
I have no info however on that branch of the family.
