I realize it has been a long time since anyone posted on this thread but since I just started researching family I thought I would post and maybe connect with others following this family line and its branches.
My grandmother was Hester Gaddis, daughter of Jackson Andrew Franklin Gaddis and Matilda S. Seago (not Costello). Their children were... Andrew Franklin, Thomas Eli (also called T.C. and is Thomas C. on his draft registration card), Joel Jackson (listed as Thomas J. on the 1900 Indian Population census), Jesse James, Hester Emeline (not Eveline Hester as listed on rootsweb), Carol Monroe, and Moses Carr. This census was before Moses was born and it says they had 8 children but only 6 living at that point in time. The children were all born in Indian Territory, OK and Hester was the only girl. All of them except Matilda are listed as part Cherokee. She is listed as white.
Jackson was married to a Melvina James in 1868 Oklahoma, who was Choctaw. They had one son, William Manuel Gaddis in 1870. They must have divorced because then in 1878 he married Matilda. Jesse James married Alta Mae Mitchell on May 23, 1913 (I have their marriage license & certificate).
I have the Gaddis line back as far as Jackson's great great grandfather in the late 1700's. Hester married a Mitchell and I'm stuck on that branch as I can't verify my great great grandfather or move past him.
