RANCHO MIRAGE, California - Anna M. Gaeta, a former resident of Muscatine, died Monday, March 31, 2003, in Rancho Mirage, California, after a lengthy illness.

Private services will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date.

Mrs. Gaeta was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of John E. and Jennie Spargo Esposito. She married Carmelo J. Gaeta.

Survivors include one son, Carmelo J. Gaeta Jr. of Fountain Valley, California; three daughters, Rosemary Gaeta of Encinitas, California, JoAnn Gaeta of Carlsbad, California, and Phillipa Gaeta of Rancho Mirage, California; and three brothers, Tony Esposito and Sam Rice of Moline, Illinois and Joe Esposito of Castle Rock, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Frank Rice.

MUSCATINE - Joseph C. Gaeta, 89, of 1807 Cedar St., died Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Services will be at the St. Mathias Church, 215 W. Eighth St. The Rev. John P. Gallagher will officate. Pallbearers will be Sal LoBianco, Vince J. Gaeta, Joe Gaeta, Charles J. Gaeta, Nick Gaeta, Vince A. Gaeta Jr., Mike G. Gaeta, Luis E. Gaeta, Anthony P. Gaeta, John L. Gaeta, Phillip L. Gaeta Jr., and Louis C. Gaeta. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery with a Military Service provided by the combined squads of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Visitation will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with a Rosary Prayer Service at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Hayes Elementary School or the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Gaeta was born on Nov. 24, 1910, in Muscatine, the son of Louis and Phillipa Cirivello Gaeta. He was a lifetime resident in Muscatine. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Air Core. He owned and operated Gaeta Distributing in Muscatine for over 40 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 388, American Legion the V.F.W. and the St. Mathias Church. Survivors include three brothers, Charles Gaeta and his wife, Betty, Vincent Gaeta Sr. and his wife, Josephine, and Phillip Gaeta, all of Muscatine; two sisters, Mary Gaeta of Muscatine, and Rose LoBianco and her husband, Charles, both of Muscatine; 22 nieces and nephews; 30 great nieces and nephews; and two great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Carmelo Gaeta; one sister, Providence Gaeta; and one nephew and two great nephews.
