There is absolutely nothing mentioned here about the Lithuanian Gaffins, whose name is derived, apparently, from the Jewish word for wine (borai p'ri ha'Gohfen). I believe the oldest known of these was David Gaffin, born 1846 in Lithuania, died 1912 in Brooklyn NY. He is the ancestor of all the Jewish Gaffins of New York I believe. Does anyone know anything at all about these Gaffins? There is a great lack of information on them.
