13. Levina3 LeCompte (Moses2, Moses1) married (--?--) Cator. She married William
William Geoghegan was was a teacher for the LeCompte family. He "William
Geoghegan, progenitor of the family in Dorchester County, is said to have been
born in Dublin and to have come to Dorchester County as a teacher for the LeCompte
family. The records show that he was born about 1704. He married Levina LeCompte,
daughter of Moses LeCompte II and his wife Levina Pattison who was the daughter of
Thomas Pattison, Sr. and Levina Pattison, the widow of Matthew Driver. William
Geoghegan and his wife, Levina, had seven children:" excerpt from First Dorchester
Families, Mowbray. He was born circa 1704 at Dublin.
Children of Levina3 LeCompte and William Geoghegan were as follows:
47 i. Philemon4 Geoghegan married Penelope Pattison, daughter of St. Leger
Pattison and Mary (--?--). He was born circa 1735. He died in 1774.
48 ii. Levina Geoghegan married (--?--) Smith. She was born before 1735. She was
born on 10 Sep 1739.
She was also known as Levina Cator. She "Early Families of Southern Maryland"
lists Levina as the daughter of Levina LeCompte and (?) Cator, while the
book "First Dorchester Families" lists her as the child of Levina LeCompte and
William Geoghegan. Both sources have the daughter Levina, marrying a (?) Smith.
She inherited at Lecomptes Addition, James Island, Dorchester County, Maryland,
Great Britain, circa 1768 inherited 34 1/2 acres from her grandfather, probably
Moses LeCompte Jr.
49 iii. William Geoghegan married Rebecca (--?--). He was born on 14 Apr 1742.
He inherited at 1/2 of Lecomptes Addition, Dorchester County, Maryland, Great
Britain, William "and his brother Moses given 1/2 Lecomptes Addition of 34 1/2
acres" as recorded in Land Records of Dorchester County, McAllister. He inherited
at part of The Grove, James Island, Dorchester County, Maryland, Great Britain,
William and his brother Moses were given "part of a tract called The Grove on
James Island of 75 acres" as recorded in Land Records of Dorchester County,
50 iv. Sarah Geoghegan was born before 1747.
51 v. Moses Geoghegan married Rose Pattison. He married Rebecca Ferguson. He was
born on 19 May 1747.
52 vi. Elizabeth Geoghegan married (--?--) Jones. She was born after 19 May 1747.
53 vii. John Geoghegan.
There were no children of Levina3 LeCompte and (--?--) Cator.
