The following is an abstraction of an article in the 8 June 1865 issue of the newspaper, Gallipolis Journal, published in Gallipolis, Ohio. Perhaps someone is looking for this soldier. This was copied from a book called "Death Notices, and Marriage Notices Taken From the Gallia County, Ohio Newspapers From 1825 to 1875" by Henrietta Evans and Mary P. Wood.

Body of soldier supposed to be H. Gahagan of an IL Reg. found in the Ohio River at Aug. Guthrie's in Addison Twp. on 13 June 1865... 5 feet 9 inches, dark sandy hair, and dark eyes, in uniform ... had a wallet with a receipt with name of Gahagan on it ... buried near Guthrie's...possibly from Washington, IL
