My Great grandmother Was named Mary Jane (Gainey) Cook.
She married Henry Wesley Cook and they lived in Louisiana.
Harvey Gainey was her father. I was always told Mary was an Indian
but if you asked any of the elderly folks in the family they refused
to talk about it. Now even my grandparents passed away and I have no
one to find out this bit of info from. An older lady in Rayville, La.
remembers going to Mary's house and playing with her daughter Virginia Cook
. She remembers that a Grandpaw Gainey was teaching the 2 girls how
to walk silently through the woods like an indian. That Grandpaw Gainey
told them he was a Chief and from the Carolina's. That the Government sent
him over to England to be educated. I have had no more luck with this. Please help!
