Hannah Gains--married Edmund Sawtell

I believe she was born either in Massachusetts or Connecticut. Her daugher, Lureny Sawtell, was born in Connecticut around 1790. Lureny married William Dunham and is buried in Newstead, Erie County, New York. Knowing more about Hannah will help me discover if the Edmund Sawtell she married was the son of the Captain John Sawtell who ended up in Broome County, New York or the one buried in Groton, Massachusetts. Thank you for any help or leads you might give me.

William Gain/Gains/Gaines and wife Margaret Litral/Litteral/Little. Spent time in Mercer County, KY. Children there included Joseph David (my line) b. 12 AUG 1852, Sarah Ann Gaines b. 20 OCT 1854 and Mary Elizabeth Gaines b. 25 DEC 1856.

Tom Gains in Louisiana in 1911

Looking for information about a Tom Gains that would have been in Sun, Louisiana or Bogalusa, Louisiana area in 1911. This Tom Gains was supposedly accused and put on trial for the murder of Napolean "Poly" Long in Sun, Louisiana in June of 1911. A trial was held in Bogalusa, Louisiana. I don't have any other info about Tom Gains. ANY information would be greatly appreciated.

EUNICE, N.M. _ Milton L. Gains, 70, rancher of Gains Ranch, died Friday, May 30, 1997, at St. Mary of the Plains Hospital in Lubbock, Texas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Eunice First Baptist Church with the Rev. Darrell Bethany officiating. Burial will be at Eunice Cemetery. Arrangements by Calvary Funeral Home.
He was born in Sabine Parish, La., and moved to Eunice in 1947 from Provencal, La. He was a member of Eunice First Presbyterian Church. He served in U.S. Navy.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Ruby Gains of Eunice; sons, George Gains of Hobbs, N.M., and Mike Gains of Los Lunas, N.M.; stepson, Michael Copeland of Jal, N.M.; brothers, Perry Gains of Eunice, N.M., and Lester Gains of Converse, La.; five grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

I am researching a cousin, John William Carroll, who's wife at Alta and daughter Maxine Gaines. They lived in Redding. He died in October 1966 in Redding ( Shasta County ). I wonder if there is any connection. When he died he was survived by wife, Alta, daugher Maxine Gaines, and three grandchildren.

I am researching my Oswego Co. NY Wallace line and it ties into the Gains line at Estelle Gains b. 12 May 1796. Her Father was Moses Gains b abt 1764 in CT. Moses was married to Hannah Miller. I believe Estelle had a sister Phebe or Edith. According to the 1820 census there should be 2 males also.
Moses Sr was born abt 1738 and married Lucy Barber.

If anyone has done research on this line pleas contact me.

I don't think we are looking for the same Lillie Gains then as mine was certainly dead before 1954 and while I can't be certain that she had not been married before she married my grandfather, my impression has always been that Gains/Gaines was her maiden name. They would have been in the same area of the country though so perhaps there is some relationship to the family that your Lillie married into, who knows? Thanks for the reply and happy hunting.

Hello, I'm also looking for Lillie Gains. My Aunt Lillie Belle Hazel married Samuel Gains she was born in Warren County Ky, near Bowling Green Ky her birth date was 06 Dec 1878 she died 14 June 1954 her father was James Lonzo Hazel and her mother was Sarah Elizabeth Cox, Hazel i dont know if they had children. or where they made their home.she had a large family her father had 8 children by his first wife (she died) and he had 8 children by his second wife. hope this might help you Barbara

I recently came upon a Buzick family line which I'm very interested in learning more about.

Place: Lexington, McLean Co., IL
Sarah L. GAINS married Arthur J. BUZICK in January 1887. They had a son name Lloyd who was born in late 1887 or early 1888. Arthur and Sarah divorced in September 1889. Sarah remarried in November 1894 to Joseph A. Gray. (I don't believe there were children by this marriage). Sarah died 15 February 1948 and is buried at the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, McLean Co., IL. In her obitaruy it states "She was born Oct 4, 1870, at Lexington, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Gaines. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son. Survivors are two grandsons, Howard G. Buzick, Bloomington, and Weldon G. Buzick, Brooklyn, N.Y. and two great-grandsons. She was a member of the United Brethren church."

My great grandmother's name was Lillie Gains (or Gaines) and other then the fact that she married my great grandfather, James H. Chappell (alternate spellings are Chapel, Chapell, Chappelle) and had three children in West Tennessee, I know nothing. If you have any leads to share I would so appreciate it.
