Hello,

My name is Xondria Gaitan-Burkett. I am researching the Gaitan family tree. My father Edward Gaitan is also interested in finding any Gaitan relatives.

My paternal grandfather was Gilbert Gaitan, born 2 May 1920 in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona, passing 25 May 1992 in Hanford, Kings County, California, USA. His parents were Panfilo Gaitan and Herlinda Garcia.

I am interested in Gaitan/Gaytan documents, photographs, research info, family info (baptismal records, bible entries), anything that could help us with our family tree.

Sincerely,
Xondria Gaitan-Burkett
Edward Gaitan
Hi Ruben, Roberto Martinez here, son of Lupe Martinez (Sifuentez). I tried emailing you and your brother Pedro recently, it looks I might have old email addresses. I've done some more work on the family history lately, and would like to reconnect.
There are errors in the Gaitan family tree. Soledad Gaitan Medrano was my grandmother. The children attributed to her are the children of Rafaela Gaitan and Jesus Medrano, my great uncle and aunt. The children attributed to Rafaela are the children of Soledad, Also, Soledad's daughter, my mother, Carmen Medrano Cardoza is not mention. She was Soledad and Joaquin Medrano Sr. third child and only daughter who survived infancy. My mother was born Jan. 13, 1923 in Michoachan Mexico. She died here in California and buried in Hanford CA where most of our relatives are buried.
I am Carmen's second son Father Timothy N. Cardoza

Trying to research Jesus Gaitan, who was born in 1918 in Coahuila Mexico. We don't know much about him or his history. He was married to Carmen Nacianceno, and he died in 1975 in San Antonio, Texas. He was in the military with Patton, but the records were destroyed in a fire in St. Louis in 1973.

Please - any information would be helpful!

Send me a direct email when you get a chance, malinallitekpatl-at-hotmail.com.

My parents are headed up to San Jose this weekend (from San Diego) for a wedding. My mom said she'd love to catch up with you all, and that you all and/or your parents moved. Email me please if you get this soon. I'd also like to share what I've been up to with the research (unfortunately not much new).

Take care,
Roberto

Gaitan / Vargas

I am trying to find out about my family history. There is a story that has been told throughout my family members and I would like to find out the truth. Rumor has it that my great-grandfather was a sheep herder in Mexico. If a sheep was lost, in those times, you paid with your life. During the night he noticed that a sheep was missing and gathered up his wife and children and left in the middle of the night. It is my understanding that they changed their last name from Gaitan to Vargas and came to Texas around 1909/1911. I believe my great-grandfather's name was Manuel Vargas. My grandfather's name was Marcos Lopez Vargas. His siblings were Manuel, Victor, Antonio, Jovita, Salome (born in Texas). If you have any information that you can provide, I would really appreciate it.

My Grandfather was Galdino Gaitan from Mexico. He met my Grandmother in San Diego sometime during WWII. My grandmother was Italian and lived with them in Tiquana and gave birth to my dad in the 1930's. She left him and I have not been able to trace any of my family back since.

My Grandmother Rose Nigro wouldn't talk to us about it in later life. Any Gaitans from Baja area? I know that some of my Aunts had a store.

Would love to know Gaitan history.

Thanks,,,,heyoka

I am in my 40's and all my life
my friends have told me I should go into acting and comedy as well. One of my dreams was to go to one of those comedy
shops here in N.Y. and go on stage on amateur night.
I could send you a picture too...but I am not computer savy.
Viva Gaitan!!!!!
Dear Petra, Sorry not to have checked my email sooner. Just got your message. I do have a picture of my grandfather José Gaitán, a very indigenous looking man of great dignity. You'll chuckle when I tell you that I make my living as a musician and comedic performer. My mother was born in Monterrey, so even if the facts don't exactly fit (no San Luis Potosí connection), perhaps we are related. As I may have mentikoned, my paternal grandfather , Jose Gaitán was from San Luis Potosi´. My maternal family is from Monterrey and my maternal grandmother Elodia Gonzalez Ríos) was born in Saltillo. I will get José Gaitán's picture scanned and then we can go from there.
Best regards,
Maria Elena Gaitan

PS: and yes, the eyes and the smiles have it.

Hola,
My grandfather Jose Aguierre Gaitan left his home in either
Saltillo or Monterrey around the time of the revolution and headed to the states. He switched birth certificates with his brother. I found out after his death in 1965...that his real name was JONAS and his brother was the real JOSE.
Our family here in New York has always loved horses, flying and we are musically inclined. Wish I could see a picture of your family. The Gaitan family I am related to...we have a strong resemblance. It is in the eyes and the smile!
You can spot us a mile away!! Also a great sense of humor.
It is so possible that we can be related....where were your grandparents or great grandparents from?
Petra
