I am doing reseach on African American Gaiters that lived in Grant County, WVA.

The African Americans spelled it "Gaiter" and the the Whites
spelled it "Gaither" in this area. My great grandfather started
off with Gaiter and ended up Gaither.

They lived in VA, then WVA from the early 1800s until 1900's
and then disappeared.

I have names connected with these families. Two of the families
they married into was Redman and Henson (Hinton).

I hope someone, someday will see this and be able to help me.
