My dad, Gaetano Galassi was from Abruzzi. He was born to Antonio and Teresa Galassi in 1925 and moved to NY in 1947 from Italy. He married Eleanor Pantoni in 1949. They had two daughters, Teresa and Toni. They moved to Connecticut in 1973 and then to California in 1978. Unfortunately my Dad passed away in 2006 and is buried in Lake Forest, CA. He always mentioned that he had relatives in Australia.

and my grand father came from italy here to work.
he came from the region abruzene.

My father, Domenic, was born in Ortucchio Abbruzzo in 1932. Youngest of 4 children, being 3 boys and a girl. My grandparents were Luigi Galassi born 1883, and my grandmother Giacinta (Jacinta) born 1895. I know he has relatives in Chicago and NY, but after trying for almost 12 months, I finally gave up looking for them. We reside in Australia. So, if you "think" you may know my family, or know of any other Galassi's whom may know of the family, please let me know. I'm fascinated to learn more!

HI, I'M LISA AND MY MAIDEN NAME IS MONTEMURRI AND MY FATHER(OSVALDO) AND ALL HIS REALATIONS ARE FROM GAGLIANO ATERNO, ABRUZZO. I DO RECALL MY NONNO(ERCOLE MONTEMURRI)WHO MARRIED VINCENZA VERTICCHIO SPEAKING HIS MOTHER AND I DO BELIEVE HE SAID HER NAME WAS CLARA OR CHIARINNA GALASSI (SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN BORN IN THE LATE 1880'S I BELIEVE SHE DIED GIVING BIRTH OR SHORTLY THEREAFTER TO MY NONNO. I HAVE TO DIG OUT MY OLD NOTES TO VERIFY--BUT NOW I'M INTRIGUED ONCE AGAIN. I WONDER IF THERE'S A CONNECTION.

Hi Toni,

It's John from New Castle. Long time no talk! I've done a bit of work on the Galassi tree in the past few weeks. A good friend of mine told me his grandmother was a Galassi, and after a little talk with his father, we realized that his grandmother was Susie Galassi, daughter of Francesco Galassi, who's brother Antonino married Teresa Ferrara, my great grandmother's sister. So this inspired me to organize all the data.

I figured out that you're Antonia Galassi, as you said before, but I was confused because I never mapped out all the data. Email me and we'll talk more.

I was researching my Galassi ancestors when I came across an unrelated family in the marriage and death record index of New Castle, Pennsylvania. The father of one family was named Lorenzo Galassi, I believe. Hope that helps!

My grandfather, Giovanni Galassi, was from Gagliano Aterno in Abruzzi. He had a sister and two brothers. I recall one brother's name: Lorenzo. They all immigrated to the US and, I believe, all settled in Western New York. Giovanni married Rosa Caretta and had two daughters, Louisa and Adriana, and Lorenzo had three children, Larry (Junior), Mary and another son whose name escapes me at this point. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

My dad's mom (my grandmother) was Lucia sister. What is your mother's name. I don't recognize your last name. My mom, dad and sister used to drive out to PA every summer to visit with my aunt Lucia and her daughters Marie and Christine.

Where are you living? We now reside in Southern California.

Teresa is my grandmother's aunt! We are surely related. This is my real name...I never use it online (unless I am sure that I know the person to whom I am speakig) because of a few threatening calls that I once recieved...anyhow, Lucia was my grandmother's mother. My maiden name is Galassi. My dad is originally from Palena, Chieti. His mother was Teresa Ferrara and she had a sister named Lucia, who resided in New Castle, PA, but passed a few years back. Vorrei avere notizie di mio nonno, Amleto Galassi, emigrato da Imola a Red Banks verso il 1910 e ivi morto, forse, di spagnola intorno al 1914. Aveva una moglie di nome Matilde e una figlia di nome Dolores. Quando è morto (?) la moglie, incinta, è ritornata in Italia, col proposito di fare ritorno a Red Banks, ma così non è avvenuto. Sono stato a Red Banks e non ho trovato traccia della sua tomba. Faceva il falegname ebanista. Qualcuno mi può aiutare?
