Hi My name is Tracy Brannan and my Grandmother is Dora DiGangi her parents were Josephine Galasso and Mario DiGangi both were born in Italy and both lived and died and Stoughton Massachusetts. I have found a marriage record on my Great Grandparents stating that Josephine Galasso's Parents Generoso Galasso (father) and Constantina Mills (mother). Hoever that is all I have found. I remember my Grams Dora telling me her Mother had sisters that also lived in the Mass area. If you think maybe this is a relative to you please let me know. I hope your still on here. We are related. My 2x great grandmother is Vito Nicola's sister Guiliana Galasso. Her married name was Moles. When Vito Nicola came to america in 1903 that is where he stayed. His wife & son followed him here in 1906. I have some more info on the family just let me know if your still on here.

This information is about my grandmother..

She was born in Avellino, Italy in 1928.
Her maiden name was Galasso.

My dad's sister sent me an email and apparently there were five children altogether.
The eldest and youngest died as babies from illnesses.
The second child was Anna (who ended up living in Marseilles, France), then Giuseppe,(who lived in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire), then my grandmother Angela.

My aunt tells me my grandmother's mother's name was Chiara and her husband died of a brain haemorrhage when my grandmother was about 3 or 4 so she didn't know much about him except that her mother was his second wife and that her father had been in America for business so I am unsure if he had any other children.

My grandma Angela eventually moved up to Turin to open up a boutique. She was a tailoress and her brother a tailor.

My aunt tells me Giuseppe married a woman named Lucia and they had 2 children.

My name is Pete Galasso and I live on Long Island. My father's name was also Peter. He had a brother Joseph (my Uncle Joey) who did live in Florida for a time and was the youngest of four brothers and two sisters. Joey Galasso had a wild and troubled life, but he was in fact a baker as well as a pretty good amateur musician (he played drums and I have a photo of him playing mandolin. I understand he passed away in upstate New York in the late eighties, I believe.

I sent an e mail directly to the e mail address you provided in your last post. I provided a great deal of info abour my side of the Aievoli Family. I don't think you ever received it.

My grandfather, Joseph Aievoli, was your grandfather's brother. However, you did not mention him as one of your grandfather's siblings. He died in Italy when my father (Rafaello)was only five years old.

I'd love to hear from you. All of my father's siblings are now deceased of course as many of my Aievoli cousins.

Once I compile this information, I will gladly share the info with you.

I dont have any info on your father. Ida Aievoli was my great grandmother. I know her parents were Luigia and Guiseppe Fiore. I found the 1900 US Census where they changed the name fiore to flower.Your father was listed on this census but I cant find anything on the half brother? Joseph. I'm trying to figure out the parents of Joseph Galasso. Was his Mom Liugia (Louisa)? Who was his father? Was it Guiseppe or someone else? Liugia died in 1918. I don't have any record of Guiseppes death.

I am a 48 year old teacher/mom of a 7 year old/historian/Newsletter editor who would loved to create this book for my only son and nieces and nephews. My immediate family is small but I want to show my son where his roots come from.

time flies by. As you can see I have been side tracked on my family tree research.
My Great grandfather was Ralph (Rafaele) Aievoli Sr. He started the funeral home across from Regina Pacis. He had 11 children. my grandmother, Ida Aievoli Abbazia was his youngest daughter. She passed away in 2003.

I have the following information on Ralph (Rafaele) family. Anything you could add would fill a lot of questions.

Raffaele Alberto Aievoli and Elena Fita Aievoli lived in San Cipriani Piscento, Salerno, Italy. As far as I can tell, they had 6 children
Filloseno who was born in 1875 in San Cipriani Piscento, Salerno - married Flavia,
Giovanni, who was born in San Cipriani Piscento, Salerno, Italy,
my great grandfather, Raffaele (Ralph) who was born Apr 15 1878 in San Cipriani Piscento, Salerno, Italy,
Lena,
Marquerite Aievoli Bruzesse and
Emanuela Aievoli Gallo.

Which one or possibly another sibling is your grandfather?
This is all the info I have on the Aievoli side. I would love to receive confirmation, names and dates of your fathers family any fund facts or careers. Once I compile this information, I will gladly share the info with you.

My father was Ralph "Rafaele" Aievoli. His father and the Ralph Aievoli who opened the first funeral parlor on 65 St. in Brooklyn, were brothers. My father was one of 13 children. I can give you most of their names if you like. I guess, we are cousins but I don't know which degree. What is your relationship to Ralph Aievoli who opened the original funeral home...granddaughter, greatgranddaughter or perhaps great, great granddaughter?

Would love to keep in touch and learn more about the Aievoli family.

My grandpa was Santiago Nicholas Galasso, he was born in Argentina and came to America through Ellis island. My father was Robert Joseph Galasso Sr., whom died within the last month. I'm looking into all family history now since I feel I lost a lot of it when my father passed.

Also looking into my fathers mothers side of the family which is way more confusing... As well as my mothers side.

We are from new jersey.

Henry's father was not Erminio; Henry's father was Quarino. Your grandfather and my grandfather, James, Sr., were brothers. We have the same great-grandfather - Quarino.
I got my wires crossed. Gene Galasso (from a previous post in 2002) is the son of Erminio. Gene died several years ago.

Henry's father was Erminio Galasso (your great-grandfather). Erminio's brother, Quarino, was my great-grandfather. Erminio and Quarino were immigrants and came here around 1908. Henry was born in Northeastern Pennsylvania, likely in Pittston, Luzerne County. Henry's brother was James, Sr., my grandfather.

I recently signed up out of curiosity to see if I could find information on both sides of my family - I'm likely the 4th generation born in America and was hoping to determine which parts of Italy my family is from. The family I know lived in Brooklyn & Staten Island, NY & my grandparents were born in NY in the 1920's. If you are from NYC and have family that may be related, please contact me. Galasso - Italy to Brazil to US

I am looking for relatives of and information on a Galasso family that came to the US on or about 7/18/1907. They originally came from Avigliano, Potenza, Italy. However, they lived several years in Brazil before making the final leg of their journey to the US. When arriving in the US, they appear to have settled and lived in the Port Chester, Westchester Co., NY area. The New York Passenger Manifest of the SS Titian shows the family as follows (note the misspelling of the last name as GALOSSO):
Guiseppe Galosso - age 37
Carmineta Galosso - age 35
Six Children: Vito - age 11), Pasquale (age 9), Vito Crekanza (age 7), Conis (age 5), Maria (age 3), and Angelo (age 8 months).
All children are shown on the passenger list as born in Sau Paulo, Brazil - accuracy of that fact has not been determined).
The family left Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on June 18, 1907 and arrived in the port of New York on July 18, 1907.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

My grand uncle, Alfonso Palermo, came from Oliveto Lucano to Philadeplphia in 1899, to join his uncle Giuseppe Galasso and cousin Giuseppe Galasso, on 1500 Germantown Avenue.

correction:Olympia Galasso who was the wife of carmine ruocco from avalleno,italy had 4 children: Louise(bella), Joseph, Margaret, and Jerry(bell0).
Olympia had 2 brothers: aurther and ? They settled in the north end of boston untill there death.

Well,I really don't know who I belong to. I am a Galasso,that was my given name at birth. But,I was adopted and my name was changed. If any one knows anything about my family this is all I know. I was born in 1952 in West Carthage New York. My father was from the New York City area,stationed at Fort Drum. My name at my birth was Deborah Ann Galasso. I know go by Tina. Your grandfather was my father's uncle. My father's name was also Ralph. When my father and his sisters and brothers first came over from Italy they were close to your grandfather and his family but with time they drifted apart.

My maiden name was Aievoli. I know for a fact that there are many of my relatives in Italy but,due to marriage, they no longer carry the Aievoli surname.

I am searching for information on Vitanicolai Galasso born 1865 in Garaguso, Basilicata, Italy. He married Caterina Guerra born August 14, 1878 also in Garaguso, Basilicata, Italy. They were married in Italy. Together they had 5 Children:
Lena -1907 Camden, NJ, USA
Cyprian - 1908 Camden, NJ, USA
Julia - 1912, Camden, NJ, USA
Caroline - 1913, Camden, NJ, USA
and (my great Grandmother) Constantina born November 3, 1900 in Garaguso, Basilicata, Italy. I have come to a brick wall. I know that Vitanicolai had siblings but I am unsure of there names and such. I have no additional info on Caterina Guerra. Any information would be appreciated.

hey Leila, Frank Galasso's son's name is Frank also, but he goes by Frankie. If I am thinking of the same person as you.... Frankie is now 18. Frankie is a former member of the band Dream Street. The Galasso ancestry that I am looking for came to Philadelphia, PA around 1899. They were Carmela and sisters Rubina and Philomena and a mother Anna Gaetana.

I sent for birth records on them from Italy over a year ago but got no reply. Where did your family settle?

Is there anyone out there who knows of a Frank Galasso? I believe he is currently living in Bronx, New York or somewhere else in New York. He is married to a Lisa something and together they have one boy. I believe his name is Frank also. Frank Galasso is my distant cousin.
