I just responded to your posting from 2001.

My great grandmother was Mary Huff (Galbraith). I have just started researching my ancestors over the last week, on I found Mary, her sister Mahala, and brother Martin Van Buren, all listed as the children of Jacob and Margaret Huff, in what I think was the 1840 census. These 3 children were listed in the 1850,60 and 70 census documents, under Charles D. and Margaret Galbraith, and I did not see anything that listed them again under the name of Huff.

I think that Jacob Huff died between 1839 and 1842, when Margaret married Charles D. Galbraith, as Mary was born in Dec. 1840.

It appears that Margaret was about 14 years older than Charles, having been born in 1802 or 03, and Charles was born about 1816.

I am going to check this info again, along with what you have stated below about Zaccheus Biggs Huff.

I don't understand how these 3 children can show-up with Margaret and 3 different men, unless she was married 3 times, with the possiblility of Zaccheus Biggs Huff being the father of Jacob Huff, and she married them both?? Do you have a marriage date for Margaret and Zaccheus?

Somewhere, I got a marriage date for Margaret and Jacob Huff as Dec. 30, 1832.

I also have the parents of Charles D. Galbraith, born about 1816, as Samuel S. Galbraith and Mary Williams, married Nov. 22, 1818, which doesn't sound right.

I hope to hear from you soon

Lynne Garrett
