JANE GALEN b.1797 PA/ m. Benjamin Franklin Akers

Jane was born in Pennsylvania, as was BF Akers. They were married about 1720 and took up residence in Fayette, Co. PA. We have no leads on her parentage or siblings. She went on to have 15 children and we all would like to know more about her. They moved to Iowa in 1859-50 after all the kids were born.

I can't add much, except to say that I also trace back to Theodore Henry Galen and Marie Theresa (Kimmel or Gummel, depending on which document you look at). My records show your g-g-grandfather as John R Galen. I show John as married to Margaret Leuffort with a child Nellie born abt 1886. I don't know if she would be Theresa, Cecelia, or another.

John was born abt 1854 in Rochester. Unfortunately, I don't have the source for this info documented. Some probably came from the US census; some likely came from LDS records. If you contact me, I'll go into my files and see if I have any other info you might be interested in. I actually have more on Theodore Henry and Marie Theresa than on John R.

If you aren't familiar with it, you might take a look at http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html. These folks are running large numbers of microfilmed NY newspapers through a software package that results in a searchable database. I've discovered quite a bit of info there.

I am doing a search for my great great grandfather, John A. Galen who was from Germany and his wife, Margaret. They had 6 children, Theresa 1885, Cecilia 1887 (my grandmother), Josephine 1889, William 1892, Maria, 1895, and Barbara 1899. I think his parents are Henry Galen from Prussia and Mary Theresa Galen (no maiden name) from Bavaria.

Anybody interested in getting a copy of a letter written by my aunt who mentions him (Paul b. 1907) as a boyfriend and what a good dancer he was winning 20 cups in ballroom dancing? Letter dated Sept. 20, 1930 written to her mother while on the road as a dancer for the Fanchon Marco Dance Revue. Please reply.

My ggrandfather was Harry GALEN Rinier (b. 11/6/1877, d. 1963) son of Jacob and Anna Rinier in Lancaster Cnty, PA. Harry married Catherine Howard in 1902 and lived in Delaware Cnty, PA where they had 3 children: Helen, Alice Harry.

I know absolutely nothing past Jacob Anna Rinier, but suspect my ggrandfather's middle name may have been my gggrandmother's maiden name.

I think that I can help you. I also have in the family tree Agnes Louise Galen who married Joseph Napolean (Paul) Aselin who was born Jan 19 1883 in Alpena, Michigan. The information that I have was passed onto me by my father Jack Langley who was in contact with Betty Aselin Stears (one of the nine children). Agnes Galen's mother was Cecelia Langley and that's where I come into the picture.
I have nine children with very little information on them except a little more for Betty's family. Would love to share information.
What I do have is the names of the children:

My grandmother's maiden name was Anna Gallon (Galen). She married Charles Gaurich from Russellton PA (20 miles north of Pittsburgh). She died in 1948. I am searching for Bernard Gallon who was
born in Illinois of Irish parents. He
married Hannah Moreland born in Illinois of
Irish parents. Their daughter Anna Rose
Galen was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1869.
I have found a Bernard Galen who was born
in Pennsylvania to a Bernard Galen but not
to Hannah Moreland. If anyone has any clue
at all of their ancestry in Illinois, their
county of origin, parents names and when
they arrived in Illinois would you please

seems to be a fairly rare name, but I know
