AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Fern A. Warnock, 89, died late Sunday evening, August 30, 2009 at her son’s home, under the care of Hospice of the Valley.
She was born March 2, 1920 in Hillsville, Pa., a daughter of Edward and Eva M. Braun Galey.
Fern was employed by the J.C. Penney Co. for 26 years, retiring in 1995. She had previously worked for the General Fireproofing Co.
She was a 1938 graduate of Lowellville High School. She was a member of the Christ Church Presbyterian for many years and also a member of the Tacit Club.
Fern loved spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking.
Her husband of 33 years, Frederick J. Warnock, whom she married July 26, 1951, died June 25, 1984.
She is survived by her daughter, Galey J. Bland of Los Alamos, N.M.; her son, F. Jay (Colleen) Warnock III of Austintown, Ohio; two sisters, Doris Ricker of Austintown and Donna Galey of Boardman, Ohio; a brother, Loyd Galey of North Lima; four grandchildren, Corrie Jones, Jeffery Bland, Jay Warnock and Caitlyn Warnock; two great-grandchildren, Cassidy Jones and Cooper Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Roy, Edward, Leon, Eugene and Dale Galey and two granddaughters, Jennifer Bland and Jackie Lynn Warnock.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.
