It would sure help if you mentioned a time frame and location. There is the Albert Gallatin freom Switzerland who helped set up the US Treasury. You can find him in any good history book.

Hello,

I am a descendant of Albert Johnston, b. Jasper Co, MS, ca 1867. He had a brother named Tom Johnston. Both were sons of the widow, Effie Blackwell and Unknown Johnston of Jasper Co., MS.

Albert married Lucinda Buckley, Shelby Co., TX and settled in Pelican, DeSoto Parish, LA where he was elected and served as Constable for 40 years. Tom married a Dykes and also relocated to Pelican, DeSoto Parish, LA.

Albert's son, Varner Houston Jonhnston, married Ida Francis Wilkinson, ca 1910. Their oldest child, George Houston Johnston, is my father.

I have tested the DNA (Y chromosome) of 4 different JOHNSTON men; a descendent of George Washinton Johnston of Jasper Co., MS, a descendant of James Patton Johnston of Jasper Co., MS, and of both son's of Effie Blackwell of Jasper Co.

All 4 of us have a matching Y chromosome, all 4 trace our roots to Jasper Co. and all 4 have the Johnston surname. The evidence is over whelming that we have a common male ancestor ca 1860 or earlier.

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Ellis Gallatin – W. Green St., Urbana, Ill”, which I would like to get back to family members. Photo was taken in about 1890-1895, in Indianapolis, IN, and Ellis looks about age 22 or so.

I found Ellis C. Gallatin in the 1900 Martinsville (Clark Co.) IL census, with a birthdate of Apr 1869. He was age 31, born IL, with wife Fannie and two children. They lived with his parents Samuel and Caroline Gallatin. The photo shows a misspelling as “Galliton”.

I am looking for info on John and Rosalia (Sophia?) Ming Gallatin. Per census records, John was born in Switzerland and Sophia was born in Germany. Not sure where they were married. They had a daughter named Rosalia Sophia Gallatin, born 2-14-1893 in Menomonie WI, died 3-26-1962 same location. Daughter Rose married Charles Andrew Garton on 2/23/1911 in Eau Claire WI. After Charley died 11/29/1924, she married Henry Herger.

Could you send me the names of John W Gallatins' children. My Great Grandfather was John Gallatin, and he had at least one son (my grandfater) name Glen Gallatin. John Gallatin was married in Baraboo, WI, but the church records were destroyed and we do not know where he was born. There have been hints that he may have been born in Ohio and moved to Wisconsin. If this is true John W Gallatin, may be my Great Great Grandfather. Any information you can provide would be appreciated!

I have been searching for info on my gggrandmother, who was known as Barbara Gallatin, born in Zurich and lived in Mollis, Canton Glarus, Switzerland. Her name was Gallati in Switzerland, and the Gallati family is a very old family of Canton Glarus and can be traced back to the 1400s. If people are coming across the name Gallatin with Swiss ancestry, give Gallati a try.

Sharlene, Sorry those names are not in the index. The index only lists the featured players and is not an every-name index. Effie Hext is not in the index. In the few pages I have read it does not seem to mention managers. Some parents and spouses names are given. The book mostly tells about their careers. Someday I would like to scan the entire book & put it on the web. There are 304 pages, a big project! When I do, I'll add an every-name index. You might try a google.com search for those names. The Mary Eliza Gallatin in your inquiry is not related to the Albert Gallatin who served under President Jefferson. This Mary Eliza Gallatin was the daughter of Albert Gallatin who fought in the Texas Revolution.

Henry married Ann... we do not have her maiden name yet.(Anns maiden name is part of the information we are looking for)
Henry was b. Bet. 1770 - 1780, in PA
Ann was b. Bet. 1780 - 1790, in PA (From some notes that were written by an ancestor, we know that Anna lived to be 107 years old.)

The children of Henry and Ann GALLATIN were:

3. Samuel E. BOWERS is my husbands gr gr grandfather.

All these children were born in Ohio. This family moved to Michigan and that is where Samuel is buried.

We know that Henrys parents are, John Heinrich GALLATIN and Anna Barbara CHRIST. We have information on their children.

If anyone can help us with birth, death and marriage dates for Henry and Ann GALLATIN that would be great!
Also dates and places for their children would be wonderful.

We are hoping that someone may see a conncection with these GALLATIN's that can help us also.

Raymond Gallatin, living in Washintong D.C. in the 20's

I am searching for information on Raymond Gallatin. I do not believe that he is still alive. He made his home in Washington,D.C. in the 1920"s. I would like to know where he ended up after that, if he remarried and if he had any more children other than my father. He was married to Lillian Hall and may have had a government job in D.C.

Dear Tom,
I always wondered how the name got changed from Gallatin to Gallentine or vice versa. Family lore said it was changed from Gallatin to Gallentine by two fueding brothers. Sharon G. is my cousin. She is my uncle Ray's daughter. I have pictures of family (don't know who they are; they are not labeled). I believe I have pictures of my grandfather Ellis and his brother as babys. I am just getting started on tracing my husbands family roots. I have never done this before so I am lost as to where to begin.
My husbands name is Dewayne Gallatin. His Father was Preston Gallatin, Grandfather was Rufus Gallatin (according to SSDI died in Feb 1994) and was married to Joan Wagner Gallatin, GR Grandfather was from what I can tell named Jaye (sp?) and married to Cora D. Gallatin. This is all the info I have. If any one can help me trace back these steps, I would greatly appreciate it.

We have not had any contact with his father since my husband was 9-10 years old. Therefore, we have these names in an old family Bible. So I am not even sure these are correct.

We are searching for information on a woman by the name of Ella Charlotte or Charlotte Ella Gallatin. We have an approx. death date for Ella of 1875.
We are trying to find out more information about my husbands gr grandmother and gr grandfather.
My husbands gr grandfather was Samuel E. Bowers. There have been written references made that state Ella was one of Samuels wives. If anyone knows anything about a woman by the last name of Gallatin, that lived in Michigan please let us know.
Samuel had a son, Willice Bowers b. June 15, 1873.

I never heard of any problems between the two brothers that I know of.
Abraham and Elder John were the closest of the brothers. Elder John could have been influenced by
Albert Gallentine the Statesman or changed it back as to his belief of wanting
to keep the orginal family name. I think at this point it would be a guess.
I have a picture of Abraham,John,Daniel and Joseph, they are brothers.
Daniel is the line I am off of.
I would like to view the picture's. Lora (Gallentine) Arnold might be able to say who some the people are in the
picture with no names. She lives in Clayton, KS.
Sharon lives about 1 hr 20 min from me. I have met her and
gave her information.
I can give you a fair amount of information on your family tree.
