Here is a copy of the papers in the bible. There wasn't any writing in the bible itself so I have no idea to whom it had belonged. I had lost the papers in a move and just came across them again. I hope this helps. Brenda

This is indeed my family.

Could you please email me the information you have, or photocopy or whatever.
What additional information do you have about its history.
There are family members who did live and die in Kansas at the time this seems to indicate. Also, a relative from southern California who might have had, or known of this item.

Charles Gallary/Gallery/Gallory/Galloway and descendants

Hello,

I would like to share information with anyone who the Galloway surname in Caroline County, VA. The name may is also been spelled: Gallary/Gallery/Gallory

This is what I know so far:

Charles Gallery (born Jan 1850) and his wife Susan (born June 1951) had two children: Edward Charles and Paige. They were married around 1870. Susan is listed in the 1920 census as a widow, so Charles may have died between 1910 and 1920. Up until 1920, the spelling of the surname was Gallary/Gallery/Gallory in the census.

Charles was a member of Zion Grove Baptist Church in Caroline County, VA.

Edward Charles Galloway married Martha Ferguson about 1890. Their children were: Annie Blanche, Mattie, Estelle. Mattie married Emmitt Woodfork and they moved to Washington, DC. Annie married Howard Coleman. Their children were Blanche, Sophia, Gladys, Eleanor, Howard Jr., and Charles. Estelle married someone with the surname Scott.

Paige married Charles E. Hevelow (sometime written Edward) (born 1870). Their children were: John L., George M, Rutherford, Robert T, Susie . Rutherford, and Robert T. moved to New York.

Looking for william Gallaway born 1894 to 1898 mother native america and father white. lived in pittsburgh PA and Had 12 Children to Hilda Randolf Arrington of Liberty Boro PA. He did cement finishing and lived on a farm. Prevoius married had a son named William and George Gallaway. Never spoke of his parents all that is known is they moved back to the Reservation?? If any one knows anything please let us know.

George Galloway, born about 1815, Upper Canada.
Wife Elizabeth, maiden name unknown, born about 1813, New Hampshire. Parents also born in New Hampshire.
Family immigrated from Canada to Trenton, Wisconsin in 1850.
Moved to Nashua, Iowa by 1870.
Moved to Logan Township, Kansas by 1880.
George died before 1900 in Kansas.
Elizabeth died after 1900 in Kansas.

Phoebe Jane (December 18, 1848) - Jane Galloway was a great-grandmother of mine. She married George E. Stubbins in 1871.

Herbert Z. (1856), married "Emma" in 1885.

I advise you and everyone else not to put your email in as such it can be harvested by do badders I would type in and use the word AT and not the symbol or type it differently some caps and some small letters.

Rueben, (Daddy Rip of Ranger TX) Changed it a short time before my Dad, Robert Leslie Galloway, was born. We have heard that story about Jim Galloway. Daddy Rip ran for local office and was an editor of the Ranger or Eastland paper. He was also instrumental in getting Governor Preston Smith to help with the creation of Lake Leon in Ranger. There are pictures of Gov. Smith and Daddy Rip in the Ranger museum. I would love a visit to your Galloway/Gallaway website. All of my cousins spell their name with an "a".

Did Reuben change the spelling or did the some of the sons? I've heard reports that some changed it to "o" with the rise in fame of Jim "Bad News" Galloway - to show connection. Spelling and fussing over "proper" spelling is really a recent invention as phonetic spelling ruled for most of the 19th century.

The Rev. Robert V. Gallaway was my great grandfather. His son Rueben Vincent Gallaway was my grandfather. Rueben changed the spelling of this name before the last of his 6 children was born, my father Robert Leslie Galloway with an "o". There is much family debate on why he changed the spelling. Just was curious to find out any info on this branch of the family. I have the article of his death Robert V. from the Aquilla TX newspaper.

I'm searching for the parents of Mary Ann Galaway who married James Edwin Scott in SC. They were both born in SC (Mary Ann in 1811 and James Edwin in 1809). Mary Ann's father was from Ireland; her mother and James's parents were from SC. They were married probably after the 1830 census (their first son, Thomas, was born in 1832 and the second son, John Alexander, was born in 1834, both in SC). By 1837 they were in Butler, AL. Brenda, your bible find is terribly exciting. John Gallaway/Galloway/Golaway is my GGG Grandfather. He lived in Westmorland County PA in Alverton, SW of Philadelphia. I have found the land and that of several sons in the area. I have researched his wives Catherine Kempf/Kampf and Sophia Trout/Troutmiller, but have never run across the second wife listed, Sarah Seighman. I am trying to find more on my great-grandfather's family. According to his death certificate, David was born in 1867 in Tennessee-parents are listed as ML Galloway and Smith (no first name). David died in Chattanooga, TN in 1935. If anyone has any info, I would greatly appreciate an email. I've really hit a brick wall with this one. I know that David came to Chattanooga in 1900, was in Bradley County at least in 1895 (son Clifford was born there), but that's about it. Thanks!

Does anyone have any info on Marion Gallaway who married Mary Ann Tutor. The only info I have is Mary Ann is widowed & living with my grandfather Phillip M. Williams & grandmother Mary Ann (Gallaway) Williams,age 71 on the 1920 Alabama census. My aunt said that Marion came from Spain & was adopted. My mother thought he was Indian. I have looked at all the census papers that I can find with no luck.

Hi, my name is Helen (Hicks) Souders. I am trying to trace my great-grandfather. His name was Charles Ellia Hicks and his wife was Sarah ( I do not know her maiden name). Sara and Charles came to Colorado where Sara homesteaded in Eckly Colorado. Charles did not want to stay in Colorado so he left his family and went (?).
