Received E-mail on 3/10/99 from Paul Gallienne, Island of Guernsey, who found a Nicolas Gallienne who married Elizabeth Le Poidevin of the parish of St. Pierre du Bois in Guernsey. Paul is continuing his research on the Galliens.

Obituary comments: Came to America in 1849 from Island of Guernsey, and stayed in Albany, NY for a short time then to Racine, WI, for four years, then to Joliet, IL., for two years, then moved to Minnesota, July, 1855. In May 1857 he moved to La Crosse, WI, spent one year and returned to Winona MN, where he spent the remainder of his life, and died their. He was the father of ten children, nine of whom were living at the time of his death, two sons and seven daughters. - P. B. Palmer wrote the obituary.
