Ciao Sally, on the pass 10 years I was involved in researching my STAITI surname, it took me back to the year 1240 in Sicily, Italy. And now, just last summer, on my last trip to Italy, I was introduced to an Italian Historian in Pisa, where my family was originated, and have offert to help me with my family research.
I have records from the year 940 of my family in Pisa, Italy.
I also have a document of my noble family in Udfine, Italy dated the end of the XIV century of one Francesco (Francis) Stainer. Did you or any body know where the name Stainer is originated?.
Some one explain it to me, that back in those years, the name used to be written according to how the person who was writting it, interpreted was the correct way of spelling. Who knows?
I was not surprise by this since I have seeing some time in the same document the surname STAITI, written in many diferent ways as fallow: Staiti, Stayti, Stait, Staite, Stayte, Staidt (belive German vertion), this particular one Stainer, (who know, where was this surname originated?).
I would like to know if is posible.
Plaese if this is of your interest, upon request, I will be sending you, copy of this document.
It's possible back then we were all related?.
That's the mistery of Genealogy.
Best regards
Carlos Staiti
