I did some research on this company in the mid 1990s. Information supplied by Clifford Boram of the Antique Stove Assoc.in Monticello, IN, and by the Rochester Public Library indicated the Galusha Stove Company was begun as a foundry by Norman H. Galusha.(An 1878 ad for "The Perfect Range" and "The Perfect Parlor" stoves says they were manufacured at the Court Street Foundry by N. H. Galusha. The company operated from 1853-1939. I have a 1915 catalogue that shows many models of "Norman" stoves, ranges and "warm air furnaces" selling for between $30 and $200. An article in the Rochester T-U in Sept. 1933 reported the company recalled 50 men "who began work on increased orders," with the expectation that "more would be recalled within a day or two until 100 additional former employees are added." Apparently the company did not weather the Depression, however,as its assets were sold in 1940 for $7,000 on the Courthouse steps to Reconstruction Finance Corp. which had issued a mortgage loan to the company in 1935.
