On 5 May 2001 you posted about Nicolas (Gamache) Lamaree and a Rene Gamache in New France.
Information I've developed from various sites indicate: Nicolas Gamache 1596-1676. He married Michelle Potel 1601-1626 with Jacques Gamache born 1621 Breval, Mantes-la-Jolie, Chartres, (Yvelines), France.
Nicolas Gamache 1596-1676 married Jacquelin Cadot 1611-1676 with Genevieve Gamache baptised Oct 13, 1636 St-Illiers-la-Ville, commune de Breval, Chartres, (Yvelines); Nicolas Gamache baptised April 17, 1639 St-Illiers-la-Ville, commune de Breval, Chartres, (Yvelines)
Regarding Rene Gamache I have a single source which provides this: born abt 1610 in St. Illiers La Ville, Chartres, Ile de France. Skepticism clouds this information.
From a 1648 map of France we see Ile-de-France as a geographic region including Paris, Versailles, etc, Chartres while "near" Versailles, Paris resides within a geographic region identified as Orleanais.
But what do I know? I live in Zillah, WA USA, never been to France, cannot speak French.
If a Rene Gamache was born in 1610, he was 29 years old when Nicolas was born in 1639. Again if Rene Gamache was born in 1610 from the marriage of Nicolas and Michelle then Michelle was 9 years and pre-pubescent.
If there was a Rene Gamache born in 1610, his relationship could be that of Uncle or Cousin to Nicolas Gamache and his Siblings.
That particular ancestor intrigues me. If Rene was a priest, because of Richelieu's colonization policies, Rene would be an SJ (if the Order had accepted the SJ designation by 1652).
If anyone else has information which contradicts or supports the above, share, if you please.
