There is an old family story that says during 1938 or 1938 Thomas S Gamble was on a submarine that was rammed by a destroyer ship.. The story says it was the S-51. However all the crew lists for that submarine(that i have found on line) do not list him as being a crew member... So would any one have a idea of where one might look to find if there were other subs sank during that era?Accordingly he was suppose to have lost his life. Or would any one look see if there is a military record for Thomas S. Gamble he was born about 1865 in Iowa, but his family migrated to Oregon in or around the late 1870's. During the time all of this was to have happened he was living in or about the Astoria Oregon area..Thomas S.Gamble's parents were William and Emma.
