i don't know how experienced you are with research, but here are some places to look: for $19.99 you can have 3 mths' access to details thru ancestry.com--for free you can get a list of what records gamms appear in, in what states. The Soc Sec Death Index shows him, I guess you know that? I like rootsweb.com for thoroughness & it's free--the best part is the bottom part of the search results with census, vitals etc. Of course the census is the best place to look--the latest years will have the most info but the earlier ones are easier to get. I looked thru my long list of info on individual Gamms but I think I skipped Michigan. We may well be distantly related, tho--one of our first to come from Germany settled in MN & SD, and the clan spread to different western states; others just stayed in CT & NY-NJ.
