My mother was looking for relatives of the gandy family as well...my mother name is gwendolyn jean gandy and she has siblings by the names of arlene gandy george gandy waymon gandy ralph gandy foster gandy claudell gandy katherin gandy and the mother of them was named lila gandy and father was named george gandy the gandy last name came from her fathers side...so if you have any information or something we can relate too please respond...thanks!

"Sure. Tell her our line seems to be from Devon, and Edward landed in 1717 in Virg. and went to N.C. From somewhere I got the impression the Gandy’s were brewers, but could be too much influenced by Gandy Street in Exeter, where the famous Gandy’s pub is located. Dean"

How kind of you to send that info to me. I had some info from census. A cousin talked to her mom and she said his father was a Zachariah Holley from South Carolina. Yes, he was a slave owner. Arch was allowed to live on the property in Red River Parish until he could no longer work. Arch's mother was Nancy. No one knows anything about her. The census give differenct places of birth. Georgia has been mentioned. Talked to another cousin in Coushatta and she also says father's name was Holley. By process of alimination I believe Zack is the 'it' guy. I am now working on finding Nancy, his mother. Not sure what her last name was. I was thinking Gandy, but not certain. I will check on the clue you gave me. Thank you, Jean

Hi Richard, if you are still interested on info about Edward Gandy from Alabama I might be able to help. My Great Great Grandfather is Edward Gandy through his son William Mariam Gandy. You are right about him being related to another edward gandy but i think it was his grand father becasue this edward came from england around 1745. He settled in north carolina and his decendants later migrated to south carolina then alabama. my Records show that Edward Gandy from Alabama married a Jane freeman in Greene Co. Alabama in 1838 then moved to Troop, Tx and bought a plot of land called Gandy Mountain and is still known by that name by some of the oldtimers to this day. He had 6 boys and 2 girls. William Mariam Gandy married Sarah Reeves and had 8 boys and 1 girl. Hyriem Oziro Gandy was the 4th child and born 1885 in Sand Flat, Texas married a Carrie Padgett fom Silver Lake and had 5 children. My grandfather Billy Doyle Bandy, born 1921, married Dorothy Shirley in 1951 and had 3 children.
