Gangloff vs Gongloff

Surnames: Gangloff, Gongloff
Hi all, last one for for today, I swear!

In my previous message about the Gangloffs of Schuylkill County, PA, I talk about the sons of George Gangloff II: George III, Henry, John, and Jacob. Throughout many of the records I've come across, Gangloff is mis-spelled a variety of ways (Gongloff, Genloffe, Ganglass, etc). However, in checking the tombstones (the "final answer", as it were), George II and all but one of his sons spell the name Gangloff. Jacob, however, spelled his name Gongloff, and he and his family have a beautiful family plot in Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County, PA, with the monument spelled Gongloff. His Civil War records are Gongloff as well. However, 2 of Jacob's children (Theodore and Lillian) are listed in a 1931 published history of St John's Reformed Church, Orwigsburg, as Gangloff, though they are buried in the afore-mentioned family plot as Gongloff. Anyone know anything about this??

Thanks-

Russ Gangloff
