A town named Gangloff?

Surnames: Gangloff
In the Helena (MT) Indepndent of Dec. 31, 1934, I came across a mention of a "little village of Gangloff 25 miles from the boarder." The traveler was going from Germany to Paris and was picked up in Germany. I assume the village is in France. Anyone ever hear of it?
