I'm tracking Hooeys, particularly the family of the Hooey's, who like your Mary Topping, came from Ohio.
Your Mary married my Peter, and your posts were a help on that. Peter, I think was Mark Hooey's son, and brother of William (1812-1862, Cudgetown Cem.). William married Margaret French of Tuscarawas (on 30 Jan 1845) in Tuscarawas. They departed about the same time as the French family (1850) and William lived next door to Richard French (presumed brother of Margaret French in township outside Du Quoin, Ill.) My bent is finding the dead son of Mark Hooey who had four grandchildren in tow from Ohio to Illinois, besides presumed sons Peter and William. The grandchildren were Jacob S Hooey(18 Dec. 1832, NJ); Jane (09 Mar 1836, NJ), Hannah (29 Apr 1841, Tuscarawas), Hezekiah (Aug 1842). I'm tracked them well downstream, but upstream is an issue. Confirmation on Peter's father would be good, and a will with family info even better. I know from Hannah's obit in 1923 that Jane was her sister, which means the grandparents (Mark & Mary) cannot be their direct parents (too old). But sorting Peter and William (presumed sons) is still a question, besides finding the dead son and his wife who are the presumed parents of at least Jacob, Jane, Hannah and Hezekiah. The first two Jacob & Jane born in NJ (presumed Stillwater, Sussex Co.) and the last two Tuscarawas.
