Familial Mediterranean Fever

Classification: Query
Surnames: Ganus
My son, age 56, had suffered from an unknown illness for the past six months which the doctors can't diagnose. The re-occuring high fevers and chills mimic malaria, however it's definitely not malaria. The doctors are looking into a condition known as: "Familial Mediterranean Fever". This is a rare genetic condition that can lie dormant for generations. I'd like to know if any of the Ganus families, especially those from Alabama, have been traced to the Mediterranean. I'd also like to know if any of you have heard of this within the Ganus family. Thank you for any help you might offer.
