I hate to burst your bubble, but Charles William Ganzel the baseball player did have a son Charles (Cubby), but he died in Massachusetts without bearing any offspring.

He was the eldest of 6 sons and 2 daughters. My grandfather, John Cameron Ganzel, was the youngest son, born 9/16/1910 died 9/28/1979.

All the Ganzels seem to be the offspring of Johann Jochim Friedrich Ganzel & Anna Sophia Dorothea Schroeder. They arrived in the US with 11 children on the ship Humboldt on September 10, 1853.

I am sure your family is descended from the same family and I might be able to help you figure it out.

I am planning a Ganzel Family Reunion on May 22, 2003 at Yankee Stadium to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the 1st Homerun to be hit by a Yankee - John Henry Ganzel - Charlie's brother.
